I never knew 3350 lbs was heavy ... besides, the 8.0L engine more than makes up for its extra ~250 lbs over the C5 Z06.

Anyway, the Viper is known to bite you in the ass (and burn your legs). If you can control it, it won't try to kill you. Living with them is said to be impossible.

The Camaro will be much more forgiving, though a fair bit slower (unless the Viper spins out once or twice). You could also drive it every day.

The older vipers were very front end heavy. Sure it weighs 3350, but how much of that is over the front wheels?

I owned a Hennessey Venom Viper 600 (1995) and I can tell you it did burn the hell out of my legs inside with the heat. One ex burned her leg on the side exhaust. The car is very quick but as mention very tail end happy with all the weight up front. The 04Z is very light and very quick in the corners and fairly cheap to mod for racing. They weigh in around 3150.

The 2nd generation ones (1996 - 2002) had around 1625 lbs over the front, and roughly 1750 lbsover the rear. The listings put them at 48-49% over the front. Helps explain their tendency to snap loose in the corners.

The Camaro SS is 54/46 I believe (V6's are 52/48).

VIper, even back in 96 they were able to pull over 1G on the skidpad and run over 70MPH in the slalom, not even comparable Really. You are right the C4 Z06 is a more controllable car, but put both in the hands of a professional driver and the viper should come out on top. You guys are right though, you have to know what you are doing or the snake wil bite you.

around here its common to see c6 zo6's used for low 40's super low miles. have u considered those? vipers are beasts. but dislike having to be acrobatic to get in and out of the car cuz of the tail pipes.

I almost traded sheila, my 02 camaro, plus some extra cash for an 07 ZO6. but silver was not my color for that car. and plus i really want to whipple my camaro . god let it come out early next year, it will be a late xmas present

Keep in mind your racing there's a upkeep cost that is cheaper for the cheaper cars.

Also back in the day a hood for the 96 viper was 10k dollars. I know because I had to get a new one. Viper parts are a lot moe $$

Thats a good point. I think there are more Corvettes sold per year than Vipers sold since its been introduced, and I'm pretty sure the 2010 Camaro has surpassed total Viper sales already. After market and replacement parts should be a hell of a lot cheaper for a Corvette (or Camaro) than the Viper.

Wait, about the sidepipes, didn't all GTS Vipers have the center mounted rear exit exhaust instead of the sidepipes?

10 cylinder engine... The sight was over before it began. My opinion, the Viper is a supercar. The Camaro, is not.

include a competition that requires you to carry 3 people and the Camaro would win

Correct but, since the still ran the exhaust down the center of the car it still got extremely hot by the legs..
