I love big dogs.

As soon as I can afford one I'm getting a German Shepherd.

We are fostering a Military Working Dog. The Air Force provides all the food, carefully selected toys, crates and vet care. The first eight weeks of care he listened to classical music. Piano, french horns and violins are his favorites

After the first week we took him back to base for a wellness check and shots. The vet weighs him, examines him, and at only 9 weeks trimmed his nails and cleaned his ears in addition to the shots. His ears were filthy

We'll be back once a month. His health care is better than humans. We'll visit with the handlers at Lackland AFB once a month supervised by 'Doc' Hilliard. The man is incredible.

Stewart Hilliard, PhD

Dr Hilliard began training working dogs in 1980 in Denver, Colorado, when he became involved first in competitive working dogs and then in the training of police service dogs. Over the years, he has taught working dog training seminars for sport clubs and law enforcement agencies all over the United States, and also been invited to teach in Canada, Australia and Brazil. He is the co-author, with Susan Barwig, of the very successful manual Schutzhund: Theory and Methods of Training, and has also written and directed many well-received videotapes about sport and service dog training produced by Canine Training Systems, of Littleton, Colorado. In 1983, he received his B.A. in psychology at the University of Colorado at Denver, and in 1997 he received his Ph.D in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Texas in Austin. Dr Hilliard was a Research Fellow in Military Working Dog Studies with the Department of Defense Military Working Dog Veterinary Service, at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, from 1997 to 2000, and is currently the Program Manager for the DoD Military Working Dog Breeding Program there.

The specially bred pups are valued at $4,200. I asked what the value of a dog is after all the training and didn't get an answer. In many respects it doesn't matter given the number of lives saved per MWD.

Long story short, I couldn't afford to keep this little guy in the style to which he has become accustomed

....you will never be in trouble with a big dog, your heart only gets bigger as he grows! My Black Lab, alpha male, was 100 at his prime, and a handfull to raise. We had to put him down last October at the the age of 13 years plus. But, he was an awesome protector of the family! Size does matter with dogs! Congrats on your awesome pup!

...I am optomistically waiting for the other shoe to drop...announcement wise...about domestic Chevy performance models, engines, options, IE C6,....things are quiet indeed...we need a Camaro fix from some tangible source or semi credible "approved" leaked information to sustain us during this doldrum period....otherwise things are at a pace of watching grass grow or paint dry..... Nice Chevy Cruze wagons are scheduled for the EU market, why not here???? That's why I purchased a Jetta Sportwagon TDI in '11. I got the diesel, a small wagon, and the GOV tax incentive. If the Cruze wagon, as being produced for abroad, with the current body style and engine platform was available domestically, I would buy it. What gives?

Wagons just don't sell here. People buy SUVs.

Even Audi turned their A4 Avant into a jacked up wagon to be more like a Subaru.

Don't disagree, I would have love an S4 Wagon.

But GM also has a very nice looking Cruze Hatch and it isn't here either.

Maybe someday. We can only hope.

Best you can get right now from GM is the CTS Wagon and they priced that to high heaven.
