According to Brian at BBK, they will have an adapter to replace their hiflo cats so you can use the stock cats in the same location. Looks like those little cans are just resonators that are right up next to the stock exhaust collector. Those will need to go to install the long tubes in either case.

Then the question becomes... what does the car sound like when you replace those first resonators... ????

As an aside, Dave no longer works for MRT.

I had talked to him last week for help on alignment issues with the 1.0 version of the exhaust. I called again today for some more help and was told he doesn't work there anymore.

**** UPDATE 11/21/09 ****

Pricing has been set! MRT Ver 2.0 will retail for $549, however like Ver 1.0, MRT is setting an introductory price of $499!

MRT is not taking orders yet... however if you would like to get on the "waiting list" you can contact Kim either by phone at (734) 455-5807 or e-mail at kim@mrt-direct.com

They are expecting to start shipping in 2 to 3 weeks...

scrming - I saw that MRT has the JBA shorties on their website, which is great. I saw the v1 exhaust and then the ss exhaust. So I guess I'm still stuck waiting on the v2. General question also - will a vented hood work on help the heat soak issue? I'm assuming it would since the air would be able to vent alot easier instead of sitting in the engine bay. That and would ceramic headers be better than regular ones? Thanks.

Yep... I seen the JBA's also... I'll be getting a set put on ASAP! As usually I'll document and dyno it... will make sure I get some videos! Should be interesting!

Yes, my understanding is the ceramic coated ones should help with heat in the engine bay... I'm just not sure how much. The stock snorkel does a pretty good job right now of getting cooler air from the front of the car... I've been testing this out the last few days... I can see where the air temps seem to be a couple of degrees lower with the snorkel on than with it off...

As far as the vented hood... should help... I had a vented hood on my Mustang and my Vortech definitely stayed cooler while driving... I'm just not sure how much it would help with a heat soaked MAF/IAT...

Where the performance benefit of headers comes, mostly, from equalizing/tuning the tube lengths (with the presumption that the OEM manifold is not tuned efficiently), I don't see much difference between the tubes of the JBA shorties vs. the stock V6 manifold.

Perhaps there is some incremental mass difference using stainless tubing vs. a casting. Maybe a smoother interior to the JBA's?

I'm just thinking about how much technology and tuning already went into developing the LLT engine and whether the JBA's will really add that much more to an already quite-advanced OEM powertrain.

The dynos will tell the truth, presumably...

I do have to say that headers look bad-ass (if you can see them amidst the rest of what's goin' on under the hood).

Let's just say I'm cautiously optimistic about what the headers can do but I'd need to see and hear results from a few people before going after them, myself, when I compare them with the OEM manifold.

Ok... stock manifolds:

Pretty ugly...

Now.. I will say I'm not expect much of an HP gain from the JBAs... I'm thinking maybe less than 10 RWHP... The 4.0L V6 Mustang has really nice manifolds, that were almost a shorty header! Going to JBA shorties showed some thing like 7 to 9 RWHP gain BUT is also improved the exhaust note, giving it a deeper rumble! That's what I'm hoping for here!

There may also be a resonance/radiant acoustic difference going from that bulky machined casting to the relatively thin-walled shorties. Obviously, a precision set of stainless steel headers would be cost-prohibitive on a mass-production scale.

If "only" 10 RWHP comes from it, that would be very exciting! Let's keep our fingers crossed...

The more I listen to the clips, the closer I get to making an appointment with MRT. Meanwhile, I keep saving up my "allowance"...

snow falling here in pittsburgh, pa today ...I think it will delay my exhaust purchase as i will not be able to drive it and enjoy it for a few months...haha hopefully some info will be available for the exhaust and those Shorty headers by the time the weather breaks to help ease my items to buy decision.

what is the diameter of our exhaust piping 2.25 or 2.5? If 2.25 would it be benefitial to expand to 2.5 from the resonators?

2.25... No benefit until maybe you go with like high flow cats and some type of forced induction...

sorry a little off subject, but which set of headers was claiming 33hp increase? and why would their be so much more?

Those are the BBK Long Tube WITH high-flow cats... they are claiming the 33 HP gain in the 5500 RPM range, not at peak... The question is how much of that gain is due to the long tubes and how much is due to the high-flow cats.... ???

Okay ya'll so I just got off the phone with kim @ MRT. I bought the last V2 kit. She said that they should have some more V2s for purchase in around 2 weeks or less. The price is still 499$ Can't wait to get it on there. Kim also is looking for owners that have purchased and placed V1 or 2s on their 5gen for pics.
