Mark your oil filters

I work in the aircraft maintenance business and have been marking oil filters after installation for years to prevent reinstallation of oil filters. I don't have my camaro yet but I took my wifes 09 Traverse in for an early oil change at 4000 miles and they did not change the oil filter. Weather he did it deliberatly on accidently is not the point but if I had not marked that filter we would have not none the filter wasn't changed.

If your going to take the time to mark you filter might as well change you own oil and consider this issue handled.

Same here! I always take a sharpie and draw a line on it and as soon I they hand me the keys I pop the hood and check the level of the oil, which sometimes elicits a comment from the tech. I had a neighbor that went to one of those quickie oil change places and they forgot to put the oil back in and you can come to your own conclusion from there.

If you gave me 3 free sessions with a prostitute I would still stay with my wife.

Just do your own oil change and have the peace of mind that it is done right.

Have to agree on that point.

I have always taken the position of taking the time and look for Mobil1 or Pennzoil Platinum sales and buying as much as you can for 2-3 oil changes. I bought enough M1, PP and Mobil1 filters which resulted in $42 DIY full syn oil changes with the best oil filters.

The guys doing the "work" on your car at 15 minute express oil changes is a basic skill. Buy the book, buy your oil, windshield washer solvent, portable air compressor etc. I estimated that I save $550 over 8 oil changes after buying oil, washer solvent.

Your new Camaro will only need washer solvent and oil for the first 80-100k or so. VERY unlikely your new car will need ANY other fluids "topped off" until then so why pay for a "service" you can do yourself by unscrewing a cap and looking or removing 3 clips and checking your air filter.

Some owners say not worth their time, I say it is.

Ah yes but apparently not 3 free filter changes. Gotta love catch 22's!

just kidding . I always have the dealer do it until it's out of warranty. I don't want them denying me warranty if something would go wrong.

But I'm always there to watch so I don't need to mark it.

Well based on the public picture you posted with your pants down in front of your car I would hazard to guess that you wouldn't be too picky.

Wouldn't be picky?! That was a Camaro wasn't it? I only want the best. Now if I was in front of a Mustang with my pants down, your statement might hold some merit!
