CA Speedway bad day for the Camaro

I went to the track(Auto Club Dragway in California) yesterday in the Silverado the only two Camaro's racing that I saw were giving the M6's a bad rap. A Blue one went 15's at the Black one went 14.4. I just saw a post about a member here that went and ran a 13.5 in a A6 so that helps.

BTW, I ran 13.7 in the Silverado on my first pass with the street tires.

I was thinking about going down there to try my stock L99 before doing any mods. What kind of wait times were involved and how many runs did you get in ? Any general tips/info you can present as well would be appreciated. I have never been to a real 1/4 strip before, in high school we just had some country road and marked the 1/4 with paint and raced out there. thanks.

Wait times were terrible. I only managed to get two runs in. There were a lot of people there plus a few that broke down and it was a little hot too. Most of the week was cool then come race day we warmed up, lol.

Bring a helmet, pants(no shorts, tank tops, sandals allowed) and be prepared to have some fun.

If you are stock then take TC off, put it in M(Sport mode) and let it shift on its own then roll into the throttle until you almost brake the tires loose. You will not know how fast you can lay into the throttle until you do it and spin. Some times the prep is better so every day is a little different.

Too bad you did not make it. They will be open again at the end of this month so prepare now. If you want to practice go to Irwindale on Thursday's. It is a 1/8 mile track but you can practice your launch. If you go let me know and I may be able to meet you.

According to a DA calculator it was a +3023 DA day.

Gray one did 13.3 with CAI,tune & headers
Orange one did 13.2 with CAI,tune and 3.45gears
White one did 13.4 with CAI and tune
Silver one did 14.1 bone stock

Air conditions bad but OK overall.. Alot of V8's which is good.

You and the Orange one were the fastest G8's there. I thought I saw the Purple one driving down the return lane instead of down the track like maybe something happened or they did not let him run.

He wasn't the only one. Another guy had to go to the local Walmart to buy pants, lol.

I can't believe that you are running that slow with all those mods. Must be the difference in the air compared to Michigan. We are running very low12's with CAI, Kooks 1 7/8 headers, Corsa exhaust and custom dyno tune and this is with a 6A L99.

I am not sure who you are referring to. I have run 12.95 in the Camaro and that day I ran 13.7 in my Silverado(pictured below). I was posting about the Camaro's I saw that day that were running let's just say not ideally.

True that. That day the DA was at +3000.

Here is a pic of my little burnout:

Yeah but if you were in California you would probably be in the 13's like everyone else.

If your reffering to my car Im sure if I were in Michigan I would be in the 12's too. Last time I checked you guys have cooler weather up there .

Even in our forum G8boards there are some G8's in the east coast running 13.0-13.1 bone stock. They are running in the 12's with my set up consistantly.

Being in California I could only compare my times and mods with people racing where I race

My Car ran 13.66 @ 106.84 at Fontana yesterday pure stock right down the the air pressure in the tires.

And that was with a poor 2.289 60 foot. I am happy with that. LS3 6M

Good time! If you could get your 60ft down you would be knocking on the 12's.

Hey guys, a friend of the SRT8 I raced send me the link to the video he shot.

Like I said in the other thread, I had no idea what I was doing. Old helmet limited me to one pass. Still for $20 bucks, it was a kick. New snell 2005 helmet showed up Friday. Car is going off to mod land for a couple weeks, hope to have back for december date at Fontana. Someone at hooters show today suggested 1/8mile at Irwindale. Can't beat the drive to Fontana from Riverside! Hope to greatly improve my 13.56 @104mph

Fontana might be a crapy track, but I have no frame of reference. It was cool just to blast down it. I will be better prepared next time and I think I will paddle shift it, so I can let her climb closer to 6000rpms before shifting.

Not that I am going there, but at what ET does a roll cage come into play??

I did not know they were racing that day. No test n tune night and no private day so it must have been some sort of event.

No need to paddle shift if you get tuned. I have the software to do it if you want.

BTW, I think it's 11.49 or lower for the roll cage. Also, Irwindale is cool especially for practice but it is only 1/8 mile so it ends too soon.

Thats a good time there - For the other SS owners that were at the track on 10/31 once they figure there cars out they will be/should be around there too.

Beautiful car by the way...

Us four door grocery getters have to get a CAI and mail tune to get 13.7-13.4..

It's hard to believe that the SS's are getting 14's and 15's with a DA
of 3000'. The stock SS's are getting low to mid 14's in Denver, CO
with DA's in the high 8000's and low 9000's.
