Anyone have a Hurst shifter?

Just wondering I've noticed that when I get aggressive when accelerating and shifting that sometimes the stock shifter will get caught from 2nd-3rd unless your carful. Does the hurst shifter alleviate this at all or is it just a quirk of the tremec?

I am so on the fence about hurst. I'm curious about this too.
Also can someone comment about using hurst in a daily driver?

I installed mine last month and drove her to Oshawa the next day and logged 800 miles in 2 days. Hurst is a little tempermental shifting on a cold trans, from 1-2, otherwise great. the 2-3 gate is alleviated and is a little more noisy than stock which is typical.

Don't ride the shifter as in hanging on it and applying pressure.

Personally, I love mine.

More pics in my profile....take a look.

I would have to agree with Banshee assessment of the shifter. I've had mine for 3 weeks now and have noticed the very similar behavior.

Does it bother you? What do you think about it as a daily driver?

I just put mine in on Saturday. I went through all the gears hard and at high revs. I did not experience any issues. The gears are tightly bunched, as you would experience in any short throw. The clicks are a little louder when you go into each shift, otherwise no other extraneous noise. This is my daily drive and, so far, I love it. I shift alot in daily traffic and have not had an issue to this point. It is a big improvement over the stock shifter.

Did you make sure that the stepped side is pointed to the driver side leaving the grooved upper shift arm toward the passenger? Some of the other members did this backwards and had some of the problems you described. Good Luck!

I've had mine just over a week and I love the shifting; the short throw is much better than the stock shifter. Only problem I have is my hands are fairly large and the white shift knob that comes with it is just a bit on the small side to be comfortable. I actually liked the size of the stock shifter so I'm thinking of getting the adapter that lets me use the stock shift knob. Other than that, I love the shifter.

The five I have installed all had the adapter shifter bars with the kit. You didn't get one?

Will sell you mine if interested.

I've had mine in for about a month or so and as time goes on I like it more and more. I had the 2-3 problem with the stock shifter but not anymore. It is a little noisier but for me the shifts are smoother and more reliable. You can check out the MGW shifter, some have posted it is perhaps a little smoother but overall I am pleased with the performance and looks of the Hurst.

No I was at the Hurst event for the SoCal Camaro5 meet on Oct. 24 and they put them in there. There wasn't an adapter. I'll call Chris and see if they'll send me one since I guess it was supposed to be included in the kit.

I have had my Hurst for about 1000 to 1500 miles, car is a daily driver and I absolutely love it. I can give nothing but positive feedback i have had no negatives with mine. You need to take all the negative stuff with a grain of salt, it may be some people just not knowing how to drive correctly or not installing it properly. Now I'm not saying thats everyone but just don't read a negative and automatically take it for 100% fact. Also the noise that some people comment on let me tell you the only circumstances in which i hear any noise. Windows up, radio off, hard acceleration there is a tiny bit of noise anything else and I don't hear anything. So windows down, or radio on even 8 or 10 which is not at all loud and you can't hear the shifter at all. All of the gears are easy to find, I haven't missed a shift yet. It is a firmer feel and the throw is way short, everybody that has sat in my car or driven it loves the shifter.

I have a problem with my Hurst shifter in the car.
After putting on 17,000 MI as my daily driver am going to AA for not having my car for the next 4 days, To all that Of you that have it on its a mater of driving the car more as the trans and shifter will loosen up a bit as you get some more MI on the car.

Hi doc try the T-Handel i put that on some time ago and i like that the most.
