Hard to fill gas tank

Is anyone having problems filling their gas tank? I had a 2005 Mustang that would not take gas (ended up a service bulletin) and my car is doing the same thing. I have tried different gas stations and types of hoses but the nozzle keeps shutting off even if I have it pulled out most of the way.

No problems at any time! I think it would be cool to have it hold more gas!

I have this problem. The pumps operate by a little vacuum pin-prick in the tip of the nozzle. If this hole sucks up gas, it will shut the pump down -- indicating you've filled it up....chances are the nozzle is sucking up splashes of gas as it hits the tank intake pipe...

Have you tried twisting, rotating the nozzle in the hole to see if it stays on? And is this a recent problem, or has it happened ever since you've owned the car?

I too, have this problem... I have to actually tilt the nozzle higer and hold it in the positon I want in order for the gas pump to stay on.. it's been this way since I first filled up my car...I thought it was odd, but never questioned it..

Same here. I put the nozzle all the way in and hold it up for the gas to pump. Not that big a deal.

While on vacation in June I rented a Mustang. It took me 10 to 15 minutes to fill that car. Tryied every angle and no luck. It was frustrating. Got my Camaro latter that month and have had no problems.

I have this problem with the truck that I currently drive. It's not the end of the world by any stretch, but when it's cold outside it certainly is no fun.

My only problem is the little hook for the cap leash is too small and the cap keeps unhooking itself and it's annoying.

I've never had a problem. I have filled up at four different gas stations and the pump has never kicked off too soon for me. Might it be temperature dependent? I am seeing that many of you are in warm weather areas like TX and Cali.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one. Every time I go to fill up I have to fight with the pump to keep it from kicking off right away, which in turn causes the cap to fall off the hook. Once I get it going, it's fine until it's filled up.

My current Z28, my brothers '03 impala and my moms '98 mercury all have this same problem but only at certain gas stations. I think it has more to do with the design of certain nozzles then the cars.

No problem here. Would like to see a better gas cap hanger rather than that small clip.

Same problem here, every time, and filled at different stations. I have had to turn the handle upside down to get it to fill. It's a pain but not the end of the world.

Yes, I have tried all different angles and even holding the filler in upside down. The only thing that seems to work is pulling the nozzle almost all the way out. The problem with this is that I have to be careful because like that there is no automatic shutoff!
