so it ain't like the world's gonna asplode if you don't, but it's always a good idea when working on any of the electrical components in your car so as to not accidentally arc any hot leads or short sensors or some random 1:1000 chance problem

I didn't disconnect anything. Wonder if that's why it don't work 10% of the time. I accelerate aggressively 90% of the time anyway. so it doesn't matter much.

Don't you have to disconnect something to plug the skip shift eliminator in??? Maybe thats why it doesn't work... no good in the glove box...

Just asking

I can understand that, just wondering there was something else.
Thanks for the info, everyone.

You don't need to disconnect the power. The connector for the skip shift solenoid is not live with the ignition off.

Keep the battery connected but BE SURE the car isn't running when you pull the connector. Now that should be in the instructions instead of the "disconnect the negative battery cable" line.

If yours doesn't work 100% of the time you definitely did something wrong.

Well, it goes without saying for you and me, but there are people out there that NEED to be told...just ask any product liability expert. It is mind-boggling when you see what is legally necessary in a simple set of instructions for the most mundane product.

Damn, didn't think about that. Is it supposed to go under the car?

Plugged into the reverse lockout? Instead?

If the skip shift eliminator is functioning, it will work ALL of the time. You will never be able to miss 2nd. gear. Get the car to 18 MPH and try to shift. If it skips to fourth, it's not working.

You might have a defective part.

My 1st one had worked, then didn't, then threw a code. Seems there was a pin bent on it. I removed it & ordered another one. Now works great! I didn't remove any battery cables as it's not necessary. Maybe yours is faulty also and you should return it for another. If you're able to go into reverse, it's in the right place
