Wal-Mart employee discount for GM?
My wife is a pharmacist with Wal-Mart and her manager told her that Wal-Mart employees (probably full-time or upper-level ones) get a $4500 discount/incentive with GM vehicles. Her manager purchased a new car a few months ago. I'm calling hogwash (a dealer may have told her manager that, but used other discounts/pricing cuts instead), but wanted to see if anyone else knew about this.
Would be nice to score a Camaro for $4k less. |

Isn't $4,500 what they gave you off during the cash for clunkers deal?

Usually corporate affiliation with the manufacturer gets supplier discounts. The amount of discount depends on the cost of the vehicle.

I got supplier pricing even though I never in my life bought a GM vehicle or had anything to do with them...

And as for the cash-for-clunkers, that wasn't the case as the manager didn't trade anything in. My wife asked her that! Regardless, would love to find out if it's true. |

They might have gave him $4500.00 off of a Tahoe or something they had a huge mark up in.

Not true at all.
Depending on the vehicle and current GMS deals you may get up to a maximum 15% off. Currently the Camaro is between 4-5% off. That isn't enough to cover taxes! |

There's no way you can get $4500 off a Camaro with corporate discount.
We only get $2k off a Camaro with our Employee discount.

https://www.gmsupplierdiscount.com/ip-gmsupplier/ And type in "wal" on the left side where it asks if your company is eligible you will see you get Supplier discounts. You need to contact your HR person and get a "secret" code to register and enter the site to see your discounts. You can build a car and see your discount online. |

You'd be surprised how many companies have discounts with GM.
For example... We get 21% off our Verizon bill each month, 12% off Dell computers, 17% off Apple computers, 5% off at Barnes and Noble, 10% off at Office Depot, 15% off at 1-800 Flowers...

That just goes to show you how much mark up is in a car if they can do this with companies like walmart and still make money. Well, Maybe that's one of the reasons they aren't making money. What do they get in return for doing this with companies like walmart?

Okay, now that makes sense. Thanks for the link! Doesn't look like the supplier discount applies for the Camaro though. Bummer... |

That's amazing because most of these places minus Verizon do NOT give military discounts... But they give a discount for wal mart... That is a joke in it's self

If someone offered me a discount I wouldn't be complaining about the amount. I'd be happy to get it. Go ahead and turn down that insuting discount and pay full price instead. That'll show those cheapskates.

I was a manager for them for 7 years. ALL employees get the GM supplier discount Ford also. They actually offer lots of discounts and free stuff it's just sometimes hard to find it. The info should be available in the CBL's in personal. I haven't worked their in a few years but I doubt much has changed.

The Camaro qualifies for supplier discount...You just have to find a dealer that will honor it, and most will, so if you go to one that doesn't look for another dealer to use.
