Question for all the Z28 hopefuls

I do believe that GM is going to build the Z28 however I don't think we will hear much about it till it's very close to being released. Reason being in my opinion is obviously the Camaro is selling well and if they announce a new top end model now it could and probably would affect current sales. I know for a fact the rumor of the Z28 is the only thing right now that is stopping me from picking up an SS and slapping a TVS 2300 blower on it and calling it a day.

I think GM will ride this hot wave they have right now with the current Camaro and right when sales and hype start to die down then they will annouce the Z28 to build interest back up in the Camaro. I could be completely wrong but thats just my thought. Anyone have any different thoughts or possibly agree with that ?

I'd say you aren't wrong. lol. but I know one thing they don't have a sale from me due to the fact I want a Z. but if I won the lotto or hit it big in the stock market game I'll make sure I buy an SS pedderize the thing up the power and tune and when the Z comes out just buy it 2. lol.

I'm with 'moneky. Regardless of $$$, I'm waiting for Z28.

There's a lot of factors that play into when special up-level models are released (whether you are talking Camaros or televisions). It takes a long time (and significant capital) to tool up a vehicle for production. If there was going to be a Z28, it's release wouldn't be held up simply because the SS was (still) selling like hotcakes.

I'm all for the Z28. I have a 2SS/RS right now, but as soon as the information is released I'll be the first one on my dealership's list. I'll own the SS and then I can just buy the Z. I just hope they keep the production numbers down on the Z.

What is the breakpoint that you would consider there being "too many" produced?

All in all, I think the Camaro will do significantly well with sales between now and when the Z/28 releases. I was DEAD set on purchasing the 2SS/RS, but now as Z/28 talks are now surfacing i'm going to wait alittle bit longer. I was hoping to have my Camaro by January but I might wait til' I come back off of a 7month deployment before I do anything.

if you really are on the team for the camaro. . .you might know something we don't. but that's like saying "60% of the time it works everytime."

If GM announced they were going to make only 500, there surely would be bloody cries of "MAKE MORE!!!!!"

So my question is - what production volume creates the impression that there are too many? When does it lose it's "speciality" such that someone would turn away from buying one?

if only 500 were made the price would be through the roof. cost of R&D + mark ups. I personally don't want a car that's 60k just because there's not many being produced. plus that would put it way over the gt500 price. which from what we've seen would be what the Z28 was aiming for. people would turn away from buying it because they can't afford it.

they need to produce enough that lowers the cost, and meets demand.

people don't want too many to be made because they want to have the product no one else has. they want the attention because they have it. I say screw that just give me the Z28 and let me drive it like it was built for. (assuming a lot about the z28 in that last sentence).

if I wanted a status symbol I would set my sights higher. ie ZR1. with as much I spend deployed I certainly could get one. but this elitist crap kills me.

read around. there are plenty of threads that people explain what Z28 means to them.
