That is definitely the SS bumper with the slightly wider fog lamps. It looks great. Also, note the mail slot. Now, it apparently has a grill of its own. I don't think I'll be getting mine in black, though. I really like that cyber grey color.

For me, that looks much better.
Very nice!

I'm assuming this is a plain-jane SS. Dunno why they have no badging on it, but I can venture a guess being that they haven't finalized the SS badge yet (either way, on my SS I'll see to it that the SS badge is big and replaces the bowtie).
Nothing that they claim is part of the RS package is evident on this car. It doesn't have the special HID/Halo headlamps, any RS badges, and the wheels are 20 inches standard on the SS as it is so I am assuming these are the SS wheels. And we have no photos of the back to differentiate those "unique RS tail lamps." And I'm pretty sure the RS package doesn't provide a different front fascia... at least it better not, because I actually like the SS bumper. The RS package from what we've been told just includes the special headlamps, tail lamps, rear-deck lip spoiler (on non SS models), 20-inch wheels, and RS badging (except on SS'). From the jist I've gotten, getting the RS package on the SS will basically give it the HID headlamps, special tail lights, and change the SS badges to red (yet they will still say SS). The spoiler and 20 inch wheels will be canceled out in favor of the SS' much better ones. That's what I am personally assuming, so don't quote me on it. According to Scotty, the SS has its own unique spoiler? On the aerial view, I can vaguely see a slightly larger spoiler that actually spreads onto the rear quarter panels unlike the RS one that is only as wide as the trunk lid.

I can sort of live with the chubby jowls they added to the cheeks of the car but the grille screams cheap. It looks like an afterthought.

i have a sneaking suspicion that after the lash of questionable returns on the front of the SS, with its wider intake and pushed out fog lights... there may be some redesigning in the works. it would explain why we haven't seen an SS at all as of yet, at least one that's properly badged an SS. even more so, the v6 that showed up in detroit came as tricked out with options as possible... why would they bring a real SS to ausy land for their unveiling that wasn't the top dog (SS with the RS package). seems like what showed up in austrialia was the black-bow tie SS-like car with no SS badging from a few weeks ago. at least, i'm betting on it. |

My guess is the SS bumper isnt just a "looks" design - it's probably there for additional cooling for the V8. I'd be careful about switching bumpers - you may cook your V8. Unless you rig some special cooling ducts with inlets under the bumper (not air induction to the engine, just blowing air across the engine bay). Of course, the special ducting means you'd have to plan for water splash-up from puddles, etc.

agreed. the bumper is serving function over form this time around... but like i said, i have a feeling that a push back to the drawing board for it has been made.
the black car is def a stand in and not a production intent vehicle... look at the hood line and how it breaks in contour... |

Yeah, not sure that black one is complete yet. Watch the video and when they move to the back, the tailpipes don't quite look finished and it's missing the bowtie.
As for the spoiler being different on the SS, not sure that is the case based on the video. |

I'am thinking that the SS with the RS package will give us the two bar grill from the test mules in place of the standard single bar grill of the RS and base SS. Why would GM test over the road with a grill that had a place for the bowtie and not use it. A new grill, strips, and red SS badge is my guess.
I may be wrong.... |

This is pretty sad that I think the V6 is MUCHHHHHHHHH better looking than this particular SS. I sure hope changes are in the works. Not a biggie though, I'll swap with a V6 guy.
And whoever thinks you're gonna "cook" you're V8 is just rediculous. |

Whats the deal? The Aussie reveal is done outside with a range of older Camaros. The Californian reveal is done on a turntable...and they broadcast the Michigan reveal that was done in "Joes Garage" over the Net. Something wrong with that.
Plus, why do they get the V8? |
