Hey guys, my name is Mike, I'm new to the forum. I went to a dealer today and test drove a 2SS that they had available for me to put a few miles on. Now, the one that I get (provided I can convince my Dad to get it for me) will probably be a 1SS. Is it possible to change out the trim on the door panels and dash and install the ambient lighting without too much trouble? I don't really like the look of the material that is on the trim on the 1SS and I would like to change it and do the lighting all at once. Is this something that can be done relatively easy? Weekend project maybe?! Thanks.

That your father can get for you? They allowed you a test drive? I'm probably around your age (I'm 22) and I get laughed off the lot if I so much as mention I am in the market for a Camaro. How is everyone getting test drives but me!?

I am quite aware of what the search feature is and how to use it, this is not the first forum that I have ever joined. Perhaps I should rephrase my question -- Are the panels easy to get? Meaning are they readily available through the dealers?

Yes, my parents will be giving me this as a reward for a high GPA in college. Studying pays off in more ways than one. As far as the test drives go, some dealers are just rude and have given me the stink eye too. However, I went to a dealer that is a friend of the family, they were happy to hand me the keys.

Guys, this is the second or third forum that I've been on, and being that I'm new here and simply asked a couple of questions, only to be blasted for no reason sure doesn't make a guy feel very welcome

i don't know bro, it may be all about images? when i was 20 BMW let me test drive brand new cars in jeans n a t-shirt. I just didn't act like a kid who wanted a joy ride, but a serious customer

OP: congrats on the car however ur getting it...we have a lot of very helpful and friendly users on here, hopefully ur not put off of Camaro5 already

I read about 2500 posts a week on here........

I saw a rather long one with lots of photos and details about 2 or 3 weeks ago .

I don't know who did it, I read it and moved on. I confirmed it has been done.

I am sure you will find it under Ambient lighting.......You look for it if YOU need it..

I was shocked when the dealer let me and my husband take a 2SS out for a test drive by ourselves (the salesman didn't go with us). But then, we aren't 19 either.

As to your question, why not ask Dad for the 2SS? I'm just sayin'...

I have asked, no...begged, for the 2SS. The only way I'm gettin one is with a 4.0 GPA though. Not impossible, just a pain...

I agree with you. I already ordered mine and they won't even let me test drive the used one on their lot.

What are the requirements for a 1SS? It's only a few thousand more for the 2SS.

heh, after reading all the incredible reviews about the camaro, i didnt think i even needed to test drive it. lol. although i doubt the dealership would even let me cause im 19 and naive as they would think. my parents still bought me a camaro

I'm 25 but everyone says I look much younger like 19-21, and I test drove a 2LT (whatever the highend V6 is) and a 2SS. Its all about how you present yourself.

And how serious you look. When I was 19, I was shopping for a Z06 and got to test drive one. Made me realize it was a bit too much and got a convertible instead.

Never had a single issue with buying any cars or test driving them. I buy about 8 per year.
