Took a couple of hours but I got them on finally. Got them at Camarodecalstore - They are awesome, really happy with the way they turned out.

They definitely need to be painted on your car. You have brought your are to a certain caliber and now every mod you do has to live up to the previous mods you have done. Darn. What a horrible problem. LOL.

Hi everyone, awesome thread plenty of information but I wanted to get some thoughts on white hood spears for my IBM LT/RS.

1. Painted vs. Vinyl - It's my DD so I frequent the car wash
2. Dealer vs. Someone Else(defnitely not me!)...cost for painted vs vinyl and would I get a warranty from the dealer?
3. Emblem vs Text - I would like to get CAMARO cut out of them, is this possible with painted? Or would I just have to go with the RS emblem?
4. The painted ones I saw had a pointier tip vs the vinyl from ridergrpahix, is that my eyes messing with me?

1. I went with Vinyl first to see if I liked it. If you are really set on it do paint. If will allow you to do a emblem for a cleaner look. If you put an emblem over a vinyl and you later decide to paint the spears you will have to replace the emblem or at least replace the double sided tape on it.

2. Someone else, the dealer will most likely charge you double what it cost them to have it done. They get a fee for being the middle man. If you want it painted find a decent paint shop. If you do Vinyl find someone if you do text as the cut outs int eh vinyl can be tricky to lay out, but if you go with a solid spear and do an emblem over top you can do that yourself easy enough I've done mine twice, the second was a decal over the vinyl so the solid spear went down perfectly. as long as you place it with enough soap water solution you can position it where you need it then just squeegee (spelling) out the water.

3. I personally prefer the emblem look or at least a separate decal over the spears, like I said I originally had text cut from my spears and the effect was not what I was really looking for, plus the vinyl gets over cut in order to cut the text so you end up with cuts at the corners of your letter. Unless they punch cut them out... But an emblem looks nice! higher quality look.

4. No it's not your eyes, its easier to paint to a point, the vinyl follows the curvature of the hood more, some who paint extend it to the bumper cover which would result in a point or at least a smaller radius end. But if you look at the edge fo the hood where the vinyl ends it really does not come to a point, so if you paint I would have them round it more like the vinyl so it does not look off, or have them extend it to the bumper cover to a smaller radius (but not a pure point) if thats more the look you are going for.
