Question interior lighting

Quick question:

Can the interior lighting be deactivated while driving?
It's probably a nice gimmick for a (romantic? ) moment in the parking lot, but I think it could get a little annoying or even distracting when driving. Wouldn't it be a waste of energy during daytime anyway?

My guess is it only comes on when the headlights or parking lamps are on.

It will probably be similar to the lighting in the new Malibu. It's soft and subtle, not distracting at all.

Yeah on my car the (very) subtle interior lights come on only when dark. I love the way the Camaro ones look, but I also understand your point. So hopefully they are not too bright, but noticeable if you are looking for them.

I think the lighting would be a good thing if it stayed on with the headlights. I remember switching from the Cobalt to my Impreza, and the darkness of the interior was distracting. Outside the car, my headlights lit the outside very well, but the interior is very dark. The contrast makes it harder to focus at night—one more reason I want to get rid of this damned wagon.

I really like it. Don't like that fact that you have to get leather interior to get the lighting though. But now I have a better excuse to get the leather. So I guess it'll work out in the end.

The lighting is dimable -- it comes with the leather interior upgrade, as I recall. It is ice blue unless you order an Orange Accent interior -- then it is orange in color.

Gimmick -- perhaps -- but as someone pointed out, it's a COOL gimmick. Further, it allows you to see the door handle and window buttons at night -- so it has a purpose as well.

Forget packaged options. I'm buying mine base model and asking for parts for my birthday/christmas...

Yeah, it's tough for those who weren't looking to get the leather.

I, however, was going to get the leather anyway, so getting it all grouped into one package might save some money over having them offered separately.

The ambient lighting is a very very slick gimmick, and I love it. The sacrifice of the cows for the leather that it goes with will not be in vain.

Perhaps the lighting can be made (offered as an option) to match the color of the exterior of the car??
