I like 'em both. I think the SS looks more aggressive. I also like the fact that GM is taking steps to visually differentiate the SS from the base/V6 Camaros. Well done IMO. |

If advertising that you've got an SS is more inportant than taste then why not just have them put 24" high "I HAVE A V8!!!!" lettering on each side?
CONCEPT BUMPER (FTW*Googolplex)!!!!! and thanks to Tom Peters for the awesome original bumper and grille!!!

Be it striping, badging, rims, scoops, spoilers, etc, post-1970 I'd like for you to find any car from any manufacturer that left their base and performance versions of the same model identical. You stated your opinion. You are entitled to it as I am to mine. Nobody, myself included, has a problem with the fact that you do not like it. My problem is that every single chance you get you say something about the SS fascia. We get it. Lastly, we have not seen the final, approved, production version of the SS. Who know, you might just like it.

If you disagree with me then I'd love to hear some legitimate logical reasoning, not childish goading in huge typeface. If that's a representation of the typical SS bumper fan, then you're just giving it a bad image already. Here's the image this projects: "teh ss bumper is da bomb! it lookz reely rad and tuff! can u c what i says? i no its to cool for u!" I'm sorry if my mocking disturbed you.

Regardless of your plea for a "legitimate logical reason" (even though styling is subjective) I'm just asking you to quit spamming in other threads about this bumper. It IS annoying; so I'm addressing it at the source. As much as I know you want the mocking to disturb me- it isn't because it doesn't apply. Better luck next time

I'm not the victim here and I'm not trying to be the victim.
You need to grow a thicker skin if you're going to be using the internet. There's a lot of people out there who will state their positions on many subjects and they're not always going to be the same as yours.

That's a highly subjective interpretation.

I'm not "catching on" anything. I was speaking rhetorically.
Explain to me now how if you can be annoyed when I express my opinion, so why do you expect that people are not being annoyed by you expressing your opinions?

captain awesome is not spamming...he has the right to give his opinion on the bumper...
its about a 55-45 split between those who like the ss bumper and the v6 bumper...no need to start attacking each other we all love the car... i myself have made peace with the different bumper and if i see it in person and don't like it ...i will just switch it...no biggie... |

I'm surprised they haven't accused one of us of making up the other of us as an alias to support ourselves!

Every chance you get; you make some sort of snide remark about the SS bumper...every chance you get. I do not speak for ALL, but I wager I do speak for most when I say that it has become annoying. Your opinion is not annoying (as a respectable amount of people share it); but the oppressive reminders you constantly give us of your opinion...IS. Nobody else is doing that: and I read every post put up on this board. So please, stop taking pot-shots. For what it's worth: I remember the Captain Awesome before this bumper thing, he talked with us about a very many topics. But lately, it seems as though 50%+ or your posts are childish remarks about the SS bumper! Do you understand what I'm trying to say? THAT is what's annoying, and THAT's what I'm asking to stop. Can we now try to end this bickering, end the "sides" and heal the "splintering" once and for all? It is safe, I think, to assume you want this outcome, too.

There are a large portion of people on this forum who feel the same way as Captain Awesome does, but most are not as extreme and eloquent in describing how they feel. "Bitter taste in my mouth" and so forth is a good description if that is how he feels and is a stronger feeling than I have, but its not bad either to say it that way.
Dragoneye, Now I haven't read every single post by CA throughout the forum, however I don't see anything wrong with Captain Awesome posting how he feels in every post in this thread since this topic is about switching the SS bumper with the V6. In time, I'm sure even Captain will cool it down some but at this point it is too early for that. We haven't seen any high-res pics of the SS bumper in any other color than black.. I'm sure there will be more "Captain Awesome" like posts once those pictures come out and we can make a closer comparison since the vote on this forum is almost split in half. I know his posts are annoying to you since you read ALL of them. However many lurkers on this thread and people in general who come to forums only read the first few new posts of each thread and skim over to the first page to read what the thread is about. In that case, he should be repeating how he feels in each post so new people get to read his opinion.. It is the nature of the beast that is a forum.. Yes, repetitiveness can get annoying.l However I don't see Captain Awesome breaking any forum rules in the process and a restriction on him because of his passion for wanting the production to be exactly or as close as possible to the concept is something we all at one point or another wanted. I would just ignore his posts if they annoyed me that much and some forums even have an ignore button included as well. I think someone should start a V8 SS bumper appreciation thread, and then I would agree that Captain should stay out of that one ... However by telling him to stop taking pot shots at the SS bumper, you are moving away from what Camaro is all about which is American Freedom. Even though most admins and moderators will tell you it is not a democracy but a dictatorship in a forum, I do feel that this community should transcend that since it is about an American icon. So this fourm should hold American values and ideals as well.. My two cents on this ![]() In a few of the video's, the goal of all the people working on the Camaro was to keep it as close to the concept as possible. I too feel they veered away from that with the V8's bumper, and hope I get used to it enough not to care. GM knew the backlash they were going to face from some loyalists in the community about the bumper, however it was done anyways. And granted more than half like it more so it wasn't neccesarily a bad choice either. Throughout history, the top model cars always have something to differntiate them from the lower end sibling.. Nobody figured it would be a different bumper, however it does not look bad to me, it just looks different than the concept and I like the concpet and V6 looks better. At this point, it's way too early to tell how I will feel once I see it in person and hopefully soon I can see one for myself in the showrooms and make my decision then. I'm still getting a V8 no matter what and I probably will not go thru a process of changing the bumpers as I stated earlier in this thread. I will keep everything stock and enjoy it no matter what. I do wish the HUD was available at launch but don't know if I can wait a whole year to place an order.. Last edited by Supermans; 08-05-2008 at 07:15 AM. |

IMO (FWIW), it can be annoying for someone to post the same thing copiously and repeatedly at every possible chance. It's also counterproductive; instead of merely making his opinion known, some people will feel like he's trying to force his opinion on them, which causes dissent and stupid flame wars as happened earlier in this thread. New users won't be missing something from their lives if they skip his earlier posts and don't see his opinion on every page; if everyone made sure that new users always saw their opinions then the forum would become unusable with everyone constantly reposting their opinions.
However, that doesn't mean that he should shut the hell up, either. Obviously he feels very strongly about it and it is a common topic. If I were in his shoes, I would put a link in my sig to this thread or a similar one, titled something like "Why the SS bumper sucks", and whenever I felt it was necessary to refresh the presence of my opinion I'd post a short reminder and mention the link in my sig ("Blecch! I don't like it...see the link in my sig."). This, in fact, is why I have the link in my sig about the effect of weight on fuel economy. It allows me to repeat my opinion without being a jerk, elaborate on it without taking up space everywhere, and it funnels responses into one thread.
