If you mean on the purchase of a car, the discounts they may offer won't replace haggling or an hounest salesman.

Last I checked, GMAC will pay the first months payment for all national guard members. May not be that way anymore.

P.S. - Just noticed that GM also offers a generic military discount - find it here. Filled out my form. The concept camaro was listed, so I selected that and it gave me a discount confirmation number and everything. Not sure the exact amount of the discount - it seems to vary based on vehicle. Examples can be found here.

GM Employee/ supplier / military discounts will get you to the right area to start the negotiations.... and they come from the factory so it wont hurt the dealer as much and it is easier than finding that honest salesman... (more than one ???) My cousin has a supplier discount= 2800+ off of a 30,000 msrp truck and the rebates were 3,000+, dealers can not really afford that kind of discount with out GM doing it. The dealer in Reno has the dealer sticker adding 10% to msrp, even on the Colorado 5 cylinder trucks, I will just go back to Texas and get my Camaro there.
It will be a PLEASANT surprise if either is available for the first 80,000 Camaros. come on GM!

I highly doubt that, the ONLY vehicle it isnt offered on is a Corvette.

Camaros are camaros and vettes are vettes.

Oh and Camaroscotty already said GM discounts would not be a problem. So if i have any trouble from anyone else, i know who i'm going to.

I filled out my form for a military discount, using the concept camaro as the vehicle choice. Gave me a confirmation number and everything. I would be highly surprised if GM doesn't honor all discounts on the camaro.

GM discounts, if offered from GM, would not be a problem....they will be honored. Some dealers will not.

The Malibu had discounts right away, so remain POSITIVE!

If I was making the decision at GM, I would suspend ALL discounts for the Camaro except the military folks, certainly in the first year. The demand for the car will be high and here's anm opportunity for GM to make a few extra mil....something that they need right now.

Don't forget...

There's also a graduate program that allows you to buy at GM Supplier Price.

Its not some exotic car, its a camaro. The only car you cant get it on is ZR1.

and why just the military folks, you just cant pick and choose who you want to give a discount to.

My dad worked for GM and retired after 30 years, My family deserves a discount as much as anyone in the military.

and If i don't get my discount, that would piss me off as much to not even buy one, just because i think it would be distasteful to do something like that on a car that they are trying to sell 80,000-100,000 the first year.

GM card points and discounts may or may not be combined. This all depends on the GM Card you have. If in doubt, call GM card member services.

I was able to use them on my GTO. what would affect it this time? the only reason i have this card is for getting money off GM vehicles. if its not honored im not buying this car.

So if my dad bought, built, repaired, owned nothing but GM vehicles for the last 30 years , and probably knows more about GM engines then most, and should be a GM certified mechanic, and I've owned nothing but GM cars, does that mean I'm entitled to get a discount too? Cause in a round about way through this forum wouldn't all of us have been working with GM in the building of the Camaro? I can't believe for a minute that not one idea/complaint/suggestion wasn't considered in the build process.

Just a thought

The thing I don't like about the GM Card discount is the redemption allowance. I've got somewhere near $3k available but will likely only be able to use $1k on the Camaro. Based on what happened when the Malibu and G8 came out, I don't expect to see the Camaro discount available for 6-12 months after release. Hopefully I can use it as soon as they start hitting the dealer lots but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Per Camaro Scotty in this same thread the discounts were available from the beginning for the Mailbu, so there is hope. You can now get the GM Supplier and Employee discounts on even the Corvette Z06, but in the past the dealer had an option on whether or not to provide it on the Vette. Perhaps Scotty can clarify better how it works currently.

The GM employee discount is offered to GM employees and their families. Retirees retain the ability use the discount for themselves and their immediate families after retirement. While GM could change that like they did for retired salary employees like they did for medical benefits it does not seem likely. There have been times as well when things were tough that GM allowed people beyond the immediate family to use the program, and has even offered it to everyone at times like in the aftermath of 9/11.

This is not going to be limited production run car, its going to be a mass model. A few months at the beginning of the run or no limits at all are possible, but we will all have to wait and see.

Looking at the available discounts on cars like the G8, I don't expect either the supplier or employee discounts to be huge, perhaps on the order of of $1,000 to $2,000 on the higher end models. Most cars no longer have the kind of margins that were available back in the 70s and 80s when folks at GM would buy a Vette, park it in the garage until they met the minimum time they had to keep it under the program, and then sell it for a profit.

This car is going to be introduced into a serious recession, GM can't afford to give cars away, but they would hurt themselves more by not offering the discounts. You can be very sure that the breakeven number of 80,000 includes a percentage of cars that will be sold to customers using one of the discount programs.

You should check and see if you are eligible for the supplier discount where you work. And as noted elsewhere here GM has a number of other programs as ell. Every discount is a good one!
