Very nice, and probably not too too hard of a conversion for those that care that much.

That's where they were originally. Had to be moved to meet fed regulations.
I'm sure a few of us are going to find a way to move them back if at all possible.

If you can move the mufflers, you can perform that modification..............

think I'm going to do the muffler to one bullet unless it's true duals then I'm doing two bullet mufflers and that's that. straight pipe after that so there would be room for it.

True Duals with an X pipe. I'd love to have the corvette 4 missile silos coming out the back in the middle with the reverse lightss back where they were.

Out of all the redos of the reverse lights that I've seen on the site, this has to be the best, very nice job. Also, I'm loving the cyber gray.

Cyber Gray is rad! So is IO. I like how the lights are and a quality bodyshop would likely charge right around a grand to do that. I'm sure it wouldn't be terribly difficult to trim the lamp buckets from the existing location, patch in new little filler panels with plastic repair epoxy, and graft them into these locations. I wonder it the bumper bar is going to be in the way though...

Well if you find a place that is going to do it to your Camaro, lemme know. I'll do the same.

Yes, that looks better, but I think I read somewhere the exhaust would damage the lenses if they were in that location...I dunno.

The reverse lights have been moved just above the exhaust.

Crash-Worthiness, be Damned!!!!!! I want these lights!!!!
If I planned on gettin in a wreck to begin with, I would SURELY avoid a rear-impact at all costs!!! You would see me "slideways" in the grass, dodging dividers, bridge posts, and water.... yelling "Yeee-Haww! as I kept my cool custom reverse-lights intact!!!! In all seriousness, folks - I once drove my Dad's GMC 3/4 ton pickup as a pizza delivery driver in the 90's. The tires on that thing had NO GRIP in the rain. Picture this: you are closing in on an intersection, in light rain, in the far right lane at about 40 MPH, of a row of cars stopped for a red light. You push the brakes lightly. The truck SKIDS like its on an ice-rink. You are about to rear-end a new Lexus, at 30+ MPH!!!! keep in mind, you have about $40 in your pocket, and will only earn about $60 more for the night. yes, I had insurance -- BUT!!!!! I said: "You know what, WTH, there is a grass ravine just to my right. I'm already sliding." What did I do???? I cranked the wheel hard-right --- did a 180 -- slid "BACKWARDS" towards that same car I was about to rear-end, and then --- cranked the wheel hard-left to go off-road and dig into the grass shoulder. I BARELY missed that car. While I was going BACKWARDS at about 20 MPH, in the grass, already PAST the car I was about to rear-end, I punched the gas, slowed myself to a crawl, and eventually went forward, back up the grass embankment, back on the road, turned 180 again, and skidded (again) to the same light I was approaching to begin with. I cautiously turned right at that intersection, and babied the GMC to the pizza parlor. Yup. That was some fun. It takes some serious imagination to picture what I just wrote, but know it all took place within 8-10 seconds. Fun!!!!!! Oh yah, I like the placement of the reverse lights on the "rear diffuser!"

Honestly, I don't think the reverse lights were (or were not) placed in any given place due to crash standards. What would be the point of that? To not break your lights? Every rear end collision over 10-15 mph that I've ever seen has busted a tail light at the least. They were moved to make them A) more visible, and B) probably to keep them from melting from the exhaust heat. This placement would be fine for aftermarket (I mean, tail light blackouts are illegal on a production car, but lots of people put them on afterwards), especially if you moved the mufflers, but theres no way they could do it stock. Plus, I like the original light placement (Although this does clean up the bumper. I wouldn't take the time to do it though).

I think a gas cap conversion to the top of the passenger side is in the works as well for another thread..

I don't think it'll be long before aftermarket bumpers (sorry.. not sure what you call them) will be out there doing just the above. Once it hits the road, you can do what the hell you want with it. Personally I'm not fussed but should the option be available....
Worth noting that over here we have to have a Fog lamp as well so I bet GM turn one of those reverse lights in to a Fog (red instead of white). That'll ruin the look even further.
