It's amazing to me how one car can bring Chevy enthusiasts of ALL ages together. Me, I'm 23 and I own a 96 Cavalier. Yea, I know it's not much but it's limitations just make me more and more excited about hopefully owning a new 2009 Camaro one day.

Hello everyone, I just joined the other day. I've read a lot of whats on hear. especially the new stuff. Finding this site has saved me from boredom.

Anyways, im 18. i live in Hauser Lake, Idaho. I'm up north. I have been a Camaro enthusiast since birth, the first car i rode in was the 78 Camaro i now drive.
Spent 15 years looking at it sit in front of our shop, then started rebuilding it with my dad.
We just finished the interior at the beginning of May, havent done any body work yet.
im going to install a new Holley 670 carb and new intake, that will finish the engine, atleast for now.

We also have a 67 SS that were going to restore eventually. gotta get some money first though.
I'm a chevy lover, and wont own anything else. EVER!

I have plans to buy the 09 Camaro, going to use my Navy bonus to get it.
V8 manual, dont know what color yet.

Zieke - From another new comer, welcome. Like you, I have found this site to be extremely informative and entertaining. Make sure you check out http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782. I spent a few hours last night reading the entire 1,800+ posts, and I think I changed my mind about 3-4 times on my final color scheme. Great photoshop work on that thread!

Well, My name is Bobb I live in NJ and Ive been a Camaro nut since I was 15. I bought my first Camaro at 15 a 67 plain jane. Bought a new 85 Berlinetta which I put the flare kit on And a custom hood kinda like the Corvette summer hood built out of the standard aftermarket hood. Then proceded to tilt the front end.I still own a 69 RS/SS bastard that ive made yellow with COMPLETE white interior. Ive been not to happy with the camaros since then, But WOW the new concept got me drooooolin all over again. Im now 40 and ready for a 2010 convert with a SICK motor (anything over 500hp would suffice) and maybe white and orange via the pace car vrsion in 69. Well thats me Bobb from Jersey

Out of all the web sites I've visited regarding the 5th Gen, this is by far the easiest to navigate, and I can easily find the information I wanna look up when I wanna look it up. Badass site.

Hello

Been lurking around for a while.

My name is Steven, I was born and raised in Germany. I'm 24 yo and I moved to the Miami area in August 2007 because of a job offer. Been driving a '95 Chevy Cavalier Z24 since then (didn't have a lot of choices when I bought it). Have had a looooooot of problems with it and I'm not spending any more money on it. (Today I "fixed" my exhaust pipe with a piece of rope and duct tape...).

I will turn 25 in February 2009, and coincidentally that's when the new Camaro is coming out as far as I know Wouldn't that be a great birthday present?

Oh well, I will have to see... hopefully the Cavalier will last another 8 months or so :/

welcome. I hear ya on the problems with the cav, we've had a few in the family. But they were always cheap to fix.

Hello Everyone, I just began looking for Gen 5 information a few weeks ago and came across this site. Looks like a very good group with very little flaming and bickering. I guess the common love of the Camaro overrides that.

My name is Rick, I am 50 and live just outside Detroit. I was lucky to have a father that was a gear head. He owned gas/service stations in the late 60's/early 70's and was an amateur stock car racer. I grew up in the garage learning that with a little knowledge and the right tools you can do just about anything.

I bought a '57 Chevy in 1971 at the age of 14. It was my "project car". For two years with guidance from my father and help from a couple buddies, we built a Chevy 350 for the car and dropped it in with a few new (used) driveline components. We worked on the body and the interior and had a pretty neat car for a 15/16 year old. But, I wasn't satisfied with that so I began purchasing components from Total Performance to build a "T Bucket". I got it on the street about 2 years after I started on it. In the mean time I had purchased a '69 Z28, fell in love with the car. Hugger Orange, White Stripes, original 302. What a car, still kicking myself that I sold it, but in those days we (I) did not view them with the reverence we (I) do now, it was a car.

Around the same time I was cruising past a dealership in Wauseon Ohio when I saw a beautiful '67 Corvette. I had to stop and ask about the car. It was a 327 4-speed convertible with factory side exhaust and the sale price was $1775.00 (this is in 1975). I sold my T Bucket and bought the Vette.

My dad was not a fan of the Vette, he thought I was going to die in it. In retrospect my dad was a very smart man. He found a 1973 Z28 in Milan Michigan for sale. It was 2 years old, silver with black stripes, and of course I loved it. I sold the Vette and bought the Camaro (with urging from dad).

The Camaro was my daily summertime driver (it was kept in the garage from October until April) for about three years, to this day the 73 Z and the 69 Z were the best 2 cars I have ever owned. Then I met my wife, traded the Camaro to my brother for a 1972 Grand Prix (great car too) because there was a little one on the way and I needed a car that I could drive in the winter (wife would not ride in my winter car a 1962 Dodge Polara).

I bought a 1970 Corvette when the first baby was born but after trying unsuccessfully to teach the wife to drive a stick shift and a second baby on the way the Vette was sold too.

That was the end of my performance car ownership until now. I attended the NAIAS when the Camaro concept was shown. I did not know it was going to be there, the first sight of it blew me away!

A spark in me that had gone out a long time ago has been re-ignited. I cannot wait to buy one when they are released.

Must admit I'm NOT a fan of the Camaro beyond 69......that is until now. I grew up wishing I'd been alive during that time period. To see super nasty Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas prowling the streets, burning dinosaur guts and laying rubber signs of their domination. I've been waiting for a loooooong time hoping they'd bring back a Camaro worthy of the late 60's models, and thankfully, they finally have. It feels AMAZING to be alive to see these companies resurrecting the cars I worshipped so much as a child. I just can't wait to get behind that wheel. Shit....I'm prolly gonna cry tears of joy the first time I floor it.
Can't. Effing. Wait.
Dang, dude...you sound like me! Welcome to the site!

I agree in hopes that Cavalier hangs one! You'll need a trade in! lol....oh, and I don't know about tape on the exhaust. You might want to try one of those thin metal coat hangers. Those seem to work pretty well.....from experience. Welcome to the site!

Great story, Rick and welcome to the site! I could only have imagined your amazement when GM introduced the Camaro! Had I been there, I would have easily been recognized as the guy shedding tears of joy jumping up and down...hehehe.... But, since i wasn't able to make it there, just look for the same guy at Indy...crying and jumping up and down when the production Camaros are unveiled. Yeah...I'm sure I'll be emotional...and my wife will be saying, "please...."

Thank you Tag.

When I saw the Camaro I gasped, I told my wife "Look at the freakin Camaro". She looked at me and said "are you crying"? I said "No, I've got something in my eye". I did, it was a Camaro!
