Invoice Price increase in 2010?

I was talking to a dealer tonight, and they mentioned that the invoice price may go up by Feb 2010.

Is this true and if so what are the chances of this happening?

I heard that as well from the dealer when I picked up my car in Ohio. He said the Chevy was going to raise the price across the board on all models about 3k. Don't know if it was the truth or not.

1 % or 2% but do you really think they would raise it 10% ?? ( 3000 x 30,000)

That dealer is an idiot.

This doesn't affect you if you already placed an order but are waiting for delivery around Feb or later does it? I have a negotiated price set with my dealer. I know the dealer told me that any "incentives" that change or fade away get applied at time of delivery, but as for MSRP price...that should stay what was quoted and signed for no?

I work for GM and we have a price protection program for issues like this. If your dealer places your order in the production system and marks it sold to you BEFORE the price increase and the vehicle gets built AFTER the price increase takes effect, you are protected and will get the pricing in effect when the order was placed. Provided you don't make any changes to the order after it is placed (i.e. option content) you are good. If any change are made, pricing as of the date of the last change applies.

It's critical that the dealer marks the order sold. If he doesn't, the new pricing will apply as GM's systems will think there's no end customer attached to the order that needs to be "protected".

Maybe that's why that dealer in Oklahoma was selling the "Collector's dream" Camaro for $145k

More than likely the beginning of January... Just look at Corvette pricing history.

But then again, it "may" rain tomorrow....May is a mighty word!

Hopper we did the preliminary order on my 2SS on 11-20-09. I have been looking at my copy of the order with the order number and everything listed I ordered on the car and price. But no where do I find the word sold. But where it says customer information they have my name and address. Would that lock it in the same as if it said sold on the paper. Opps just found it sorry. It says order type:SDC-sold RCC what ever that means.

Just found it on my order too. Says:

Order Type: SRE - Retail Sold

I guess that means I'm good?

But does this include if you are getting supplier pricing? My dealer said there was no price protection for supplier pricing.

Order Types SDC and SRE are good for price protection.

I'm curious as well. I've always been told only MSRP is price protected, invoice and discount prices are not.

10% increase would put it in line with the other two muscle cars and with the good reviews already, it would likely still sell. SURE glad I got mine already!!!

can't see them raising the price as it is 3k higher than the comparable mustang and you get 0% financing, once the initial rush is over you may even see some rebate's or sub-vented interest rates.

Just checked the actual dealer bulletin...price protection does apply to supplier pricing for sold orders.

Thank you sir, now how do you go about "locking in the price?" Is it a form or is the dealer just suppose to know?

If you tell me your 6 digit order ID, I'd be happy to tell you if the dealer has done this for you properly. If he did, it's automatic.

No form necessary, if the dealer has it marked sold, it's automatic. Just make sure the supplier price the dealer quoted you is the price you get. It's that simple. If the dealer claims supplier price is not protected, ask them to look at the the bulletin again. Just make sure the dealer has it marked sold and you're cool.
