Challenger In Person

So I'm coming back from lunch today and as I'm pulling into work I look up and see this beautiful car exiting off the interstate. So, being the nut I am, I decided to pull right back out of work and try to track this puppy down because I have yet to see one in KC. I wound up following it to a hotel. As I'm parking I notice that a guy is coming out of the hotel lobby and walking over to the car with a bunch of paperwork in his hand. I'm sure they thought I was nuts, but I asked if they wouldn't mind me just taking a look at it. They guy that had been driving the Challenger came over to me while I was looking at it and said that he had three more if I was interested and that it was in the upper $40's. I, of course, said that while it was a sweet looking ride, I had my heart set on the new Camaro. To this he replied, "well, I'm in the car business and I heard they probably won't see the light of day". And so I made sure to educate him that they'll be rolling off the production line in February.

The interesting thing was the guy that was buying it had flown into KC from Canada and was going to drive it all the way back. I'm guessing that'll be one of the most enjoyable drives he's ever had. That really is a beautifal car inside and out. This was the only decent pic I got on my cell phone. I was kind of in a hurry to get back to work.

Should have said something equally as educated in response, like, "Well I'm in the computer business, and I heard Microsoft was going under."

Probably spent 60 grand on that car, too...what's that saying about having more money than brains?

There have only been 2 Challengers here in my town, both of them were gone within the first 4 hours of them being one the lot. One was baught by some dude locally, but the other was baught by a man that flew in from LA, and drove it back to LA. Now that is one hell of a roadtrip. Apparently, the lot here was the only one he could find that was selling the SRT8 at MSRP, without any mark ups.

The look on his face was pretty priceless when I mentioned they were starting on Feb. 16th. It was kinda like what do I say now.

Thanks for the picture, I don't know if it was your cameraphone or what, but dosen't that car look kind of boring and plain??? I mean the side below that one crease looks completely flat... and the black rear spoiler looks like it came from Pep Boys.

Definitely understand where you're coming from. All I can say is it was certainly more stunning in person and the cell pic doesn't do it any justice. Also, you can't see them, but it also had dual black stripes down the middle, kinda like the Bumblebee stripes. It really did look sharp. If it wasn't for the new Camaro this would certainly be on the top of my list after today.

To the average person, both cars are very similiar looking. I recall reading a post on this site about a camaro sighting in Canada that turned out to be a truckload of challengers.

You got to admit that if the camaro wouldn't have been revived, many of us on this board would have seriously considered a challenger, right?

I would say I probably would have seriously considered the challenger had it not been for the Camaro coming back and it's awesome look.

I've been VERY lucky; there's a dodge dealer on the way from my place to my boyfriend's and they must have quite the allocation because every day or every other day for the last week they've had a different colored Challenger up on a showoff ramp in the back on the freeway side of their showroom. So far I've seen two silvers, a black, an orange, and possibly a red (may have been another orange; it was dark and hard to tell, and gone by daylight...) But yeah, they got a LOT of them... that rack in the back has only been empty for about 8 hours that I can tell.

Might go in this weekend for a closer look

I am curious about the Challenger, not hating but I'm not that fond of modern Dodges, insofar as owning one would go. I do have general respect for muscle and pony cars though so like I said, I'm curious enough I might go look but my heart belongs to the Camaro

Oh yeah, and that was funny too

You must be talking about Carl Burger Dodge right off of I-8. I don't drive by there very often, but I have seen two different ones out back.

I've seen them in all three colors at my local dealership. Loved the Hemi Orange, not so crazy about black and silver was okay. The truth is the car looks great from the front, okay from the back, good from the side. The black wing has to go, cheapens the look in my opinion. But, the interior looks like a standard Dodge Avanger, Charger, Chrysler 300C. It is hideous in person. Big mistake by Dodge in that department. Overall it was nice but not good enoguh for me to give up getting my '10 SS/RS Victory Red With White Stripes Camaro!
