Anyone try aftermarket Bluetooth setup?

Hey I was wondering if anyone has installed a aftermarket bluetooth in their car yet? Any recommandations would be very helpful.
Thanks for all the input

Hi Yellow, don't believe anybody has, but there are several solutions out there! the Parrot systems should work with the proper installation and there is also a company that uses the cigarette lighter for the BT. can't remember the name right now, but when i go to work tomorrow, i'll get you the name and website.

EDIT: nevermind, i just remembered. The company is called Vizualogic. The product name is CiG Blue Bluetooth:

BlueStar Bluetooth connectivity

Has anyone every tried a bluetooth connectivity package to Onstar called Bluestar ???
It is produced by a company here http://www.costartech.com/
Seems like they are coming out with a new package to add bluetooth connectivity through your Onstar system without the camaro connectivity package option.

I think I remember reading about it, if I remember correctly their system disables all Onstar functions.

Note: Installing the BlueSTAR or BlueSTAR PnP requires disconnecting your onstar communications module. Once disconnected, you will not have any onstar capabilities, including emergency assistance.

Lots of guys on the G8 board have had to go this route because the bluetooth is built into the onstar module. Since no one at GM seems to know anything about onstar there is very little help on getting an upgrade from GM to get a new onstar module with bluetooth built in.

The costar replaces the onstar module so that you can use your factory controls to place/take calls and mute/volume up or down and stuff like that.

Sounds like what I want. I will not renew my onstar and I do not have the connectivity package. I would like the bluetooth option for my Iphone. I have been working with a local stereo place to work an apple dock into the system, so far I can play the music and get the text on the screen but it is not correct. I use my iphone as my nav system also and we are working to get the muting to work.
These Bluestar people seem to have most of this worked out already and will talk to them to see if integrating with their system will be easier.

If you aren't planning on using your onstar, I'm not, check out costartech they have a new blue tooth connectivity package that replaces your onstar and gives you Blue tooth connectivity through the Onstar panel. Again only if you are not going to use your Onstar.

Okay, since the word of costar/Bluestar is out there now, I can set-up a group buy for you guys if there are at least 10 people that would like to go this route.

PM me if you are interested and I will contact CoStar for more details.

Wait, what? She won't share you mean?

J/k, lol!

We need at least 10 people to get in on this for the group buy. I received an email from CoStar yesterday and the group buy still stands.

So far, it seems to be that the list is as follows:

1. NutButt
2. Yellow1lt

Coop, I don't think they've released pricing information for the BlueStar 2010 yet. I'll email him later on today and see if he can give me a bit more information. BUT...if we don't get the 10 people necessary, we can't get the group discount!

Revised list:

1. NutButt
2. Yellow1lt
3. Coop

This should be a simple install. I pulled the Onstar today in about ten minutes. Didn't perminately remove it yet, just tracing wires for another project.

Yes, it definitely should be as VT2CA has so graciously shown us, but thanks for the heads up

Speaking of heads up, I have some more information for you guys...if you are still interested. As i've stated before (I think), Chris had eluded to me that the module would not be available until after the new year. He has told me the following about his inventory:

Quote:
...I have only slated a small amount of units for the initial release, and if things heat up in a group buy, it could deplete my inventory dramatically.
Don't know what he means by the last part, but I still want to give you guys the information.

And now...the moment everybody has been waiting for...pricing information! Again, from Chris at CoStar:

Quote:
Regarding pricing, the unit will list at $279 and I can go down to $225 for group buys of 10 or more.
So, let's recap the list:

1. NutButt
2. Yellow1lt
3. Coop
4. SS Drifter
5. Motor1
6. steeleshark2 (<--maybe)

I had some communication with Chris last week, before Iwantone2 started the group buy for us. Even with the holiday Chris got right back to me. I'm confident that he is dedicated product support.
