Just don't let some 300lb gas jock slam your hood down unless you want his hand prints in your hood.

I think on non sunroof cars the roof is aluminum too.

When I was watching Ultimate Factories the overhead shot in the body shop showed the hood and roof to have the exact same material color which was different than the other body panels.

I cant confirm because my car is 1.5 hours away in a body shop getting some work done.

Someone grab a magnet to your non sunroof roof and tell us if it sticks or not.

Just went out in the garage and checked.

Magnet (with microfiber towel between paint and magnet of course).

Hood = no magnetic pull

Roof = Magnetic pull

I don't have a sunroof. (2SS/RS)

The non-sunroof is steel.

Yep, they did say the hood was made of aluminum on the "Ultimate Factories" show. I assumed it was to help keep the weight down.

Could be 5052 or possibly 6061. 6061 has very good durability, we use it at work for its good machining properties as well as its durability during welding. Im not a metallurgist but I know a little bit.

Something from Alcoa? Or perhaps imported from Korea?

Rust is the least of your worries. Paint chips are your biggest worries.

It's gonna be a softer grade aluminum because the way it is formed.

Rust may be a form of corrosion BUT it is not the only form. Something that is corrosive means it deteriorates metal, which rust does but corrosion of aluminum is NOT rust.

There is a big difference. Mac is right by his statement.

Rust is a laymen term for iron corrosion. Both correct.

What I like is at work they have the stainless steel cleaner.... I just love to point out that the counters aren't stainless steel..... they are rusting around the corners now lol. Not exactly stainless huh? Big difference between a 300 and 400 series stainless steel

All rust is corrosion, but all corrosion is not rust.

All corrosion is oxidation, but all oxidation is not corrosion.

Rust is iron oxide, or corrosion of ferrous metals. All corrosion is caused by oxidation (oxygen interaction with the metal). But your brown apple is a result of oxidation, too, but we do not call that corrosion.
