Why the L99? The Vette uses a LS3 with Auto 6-sp! Why cant the SS Have this option?

The L99 is basically a LS3 with AFM. Helps get the millage up and avoid a gas guzzler tax. The L99 comes with a 6 speed auto with "TAPshift."
Does anybody know if the Camaro's "TAPshift" is paddles or a slapstick?

So, are you saying the Vette does not have AFM with it's Auto?

If it says "Steering Wheel Mounted" does that mean it's similar to the ones on the Steering Wheel of the Malibu, which people have expressed negative feelings about?

I think if it said "Steering Column Mounted Paddles" then it would be a lot clearer what they were.

Paddle shift is on the steering wheel, the other is usually with the shifter. Both are fairly slow in responding. I found Corvette buyers to find them more as a novelty than for functionality.

DougHoulihan: The V6 and V8 automatics have paddle-shifters on the back side of the steering wheel to allow the customer complete control of their shift points.

This is the best pic i can find that shows the way they are configured... NOTE this is not the actual wheel/buttons. BUT they are basically the same and NOT like the malibus...

Great stuff, thanks...The ones on the Malibu are the same ones on my wife's Saturn Aura, not a surprise...I like the Camaro ones better....
