Find build date.

I thought I read somewhere before that there is a way to find out exactly when the Camaro was built by the VIN #. Just kind of wondering when mine was built. Thanks.

The dealer can run the VIN and tell you when the car reached each step of the ordering process (event codes) including the 3800- produced "level".

Does it matter that I did not order it? I purchased it from the dealer.

Open the hood and look on the left side near the frame you will see a sticker and that will give you the build date and time etc.

I took a picture of mine ..

That's the right side of the car, on the upper unibody just behind the radiator support. Someone also posted that it's also under the rear unibody but I never looked for mine there.

That is NOT the build date of your vehicles. It is the date Martin Rea built your suspension.

There should be a sticker on the frame directly behind and above the the rear gearbox. It has the time and date on it. Or as others have said go to your dealer and have them pull and "event code history".

The bar code sticker on my car corresponds with everything I have on my car with a TPW of 8/3. The sticker says 8:30 AM on 8/3, It was out the door on 8/4 and on the train on 8/5. What does the sticker on the painted unidody rail have to do with the suspension ?. Of course the suspension was built before the car was on the assembly line.

So, which sticker is the "correct" build date?

Your car was probably started ( framed ) on July 31st a Friday and dropped from paint on Aug 3 mid-afternoon , rolled off the line in Chassis on the 4th and was ok'd for shipping and loading for the 5th.

If you are in front of the car and open the hood, over to the left side and down is a sticker on the suspension with a date and time. People are mistakenly referring to that as their build date. It is not.

I guess we are talking about two different stickers. One on the Suspension components, and one on the body color painted upper unibody rail. I have never seen a sticker on the suspension so I'm not sure about that one.
The confusion continues.

There is a sticker under the hood on the passenger side frame rail. Mine states, 8/28/09. There is another on the frame in the back, Mine states 8/29/09. I just looked at the one on the back of the drivers door. It just says 8/09. I think the rear frame gets built the day before assembly. But, haven't heard any confirmation on that.

Ok here's the key ..when did you receive your VIN # ? If you were given the # on the 31st of August from your dealer then your car was assigned its VIN # either the 28th or 29th in the trim dept. The 08/09 on the inner door only lets you know the month and year of production build. The broadcast dates are for production control/scheduling in order to have your Camaro parts ready for your car ( sometime that week ) . Now based on your info i'd say your car was framed (bodyshop) on the 27th , Paint the 28th , Trim/Hardware the 29th and rolloff ( Chassis ) the 31st.

Its about as close as i can target your build info. Super60
