Man, How fast do you have to be going to nearly cut the car in half lengthwise? Usually it would pop out the windshield, but it even cut the windshield without it even losing its seal along the A-pillar, unbelievable.
Good thing he didn't have a passenger, would have killed him/her.

Although the accident looks devastating, I think it can be expected that the driver fares better in a "narrow object" collision like this, as opposed to hitting a blunt object like a wall. The car decelerated over a much longer time that it would have if it hit something wide, hence there are smaller forces on the body. As long as you don't get cut in half...you're good to go!

P.S. that's one stiff pole!

If I am not mistaken, this is on the "old" side of town... before break away stuff was required. I think the poles are concreted in the ground. You are in God's hands if you hit it!
