The oil cap is the same as mine, I compared it to the factory one and noticed the factory one has a tapered grove and not a sharp edge, so I took My dremel tool and made mine tapered like the factory one and now it fits much better.
I love that center emblem you have, where did you get it?

I've been searching and have not found one like it...

I also found if you lubricate the O ring on the oil cap with a little oil, it will also make it easier to turn it...

Here's the Engine cover I did last weekend...my first paint mod. Not the most perfect tape/lines but hey...I did it myself!

I took my oil Cap off, After driving it the other day I was going to take it off and it was so hot it almost burned my fingers when I touched it.. When i got it off I could only hold on to it for a few seconds before putting it down and letting it cool off.. I think that is one reason GM made theirs out of plastic.. No heat soak...

No errors. There was a weird noise on the initial restart. But it sounds like its possibly isolated to just myself. But haven't had any errors.

i used the blue painters tape (thick) and plain masking tape (thin). all you have to do in order for the paint not to bleed is do light coats. dont go heavy duty sparying all over the place lol. it will cause bleeds and drips. just take your time and it will come out awesome!

I hope this isn't a dummy question, but could someone please give me a direct link to a site that sells the high heat spray paint that is CLOSEST to IOM? I am having a HARD time finding something ... And I don't want to screw up with the wrong color! Already made that mistake once!

THANKS!

hey here is the website for Duplicolor High Heat spray paint that most people are using. you can find it at most local car part stores (pep boys, advanced auto, etc.) too so you can see the color in person. Don't know what would be the closest to IOM but there is a list on the page to check out. DE 1607 Chevrolet Orange-Red might be close enough...

http://duplicolor.com/products/engine.html

hope this helps you out a bit.

i just used krylon fusion spary paint and it worked really good.

Thnks! This atleast gives me a direction and a good start. I try and do most of my mods myself (when it comes to paint/vinyl and design, it helps having an art degree)..doing some of these things myself leave money for more toys!

I used a high heat primer / adhesion promoter and regular paint (matched to code) from paintscratch.com and ive had no problems at all with the heat. You guys should be ok with not using high heat paint, just be sure to get some good high heat primer or adhesion promoter. almost 4,000 miles on mine and still looks great.

taped up and ready for paint pic #1

pic #2 base coat down

pic #3 tape off clear metal effects on. (paint made by dupli-color that adds a brilliant glitter effect to black surface).
