The resonated X-Pipe is basically the same as the Tru X-Pipe but it has packing around it like a muffler. It will help control the tone quality much better than a Tru X-Pipe and since you were not planning on using mufflers the resonated X-Pipe will deepen the tone and control the popping on decel. In terms of performance they are very similar.

I cant decide between just getting the axle back version, or stepping up to the cat back version. I know the cat will yield better performance, but whats the difference in sound.

The sound is going to be fairly similar. The biggest advantage the cat-back has over the axle-back in terms of sound is the x-pipe, to me it sounds more refined. It helps cancel out some of the popping on decel. What model is your Camaro? That also plays into it.

With the auto I believe the factory system uses a different resonator than the manual. The comparison of the axle-back to cat-back on the automatic would be close in terms of sound. With the x-pipe the cat-back would have a smoother/deeper tone. The factory resonator is also very restrictive on the auto. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions.
