Automatic Shifter

Hey guys, I really dislike the stock Auto shifter. Take a look at the cover I found below:

http://www.uniqueautodepot.com/inter...r-cc-1014.html

What do you guys think? Anyone has any suggestion on a different modification to the shifter?

Thanks.

This is the defenderworx shifter, unsure it works on the Automatic - available at a few places including camarocollection - http://www.camarocollection.com/cata...roduct_id=7964

They had a discount code for 15% off first order of $50 or more - code = SBWC79 -

you can pm them at camaro5 member name Defenderworx with any questions especially if you have an Automatic.

I got my billet door sills and fuel door from them - great quality

Also - Barton Industries was doing Manual versions as well - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...hlight=shifter Their website has a great video of the install http://www.bartonindustries.com/BUYKnobs.html

Thanks tjd24!

I am really considering getting it. Has anyone bought that shifter? What do you think of it?

Thanks.

Someone bought one - can't recall the thread - so search on billet shifter or other word combos.

Unsure if you have an Automatic as I believe these only work on the manual tranny.

Hmmm, from this ebay site, it said for Auto Only. I am going to email Defenderworx to be sure.

You are right, Barton Shifters are for manual only. I want to say Defenderworx is for Automatic, but I am not sure. I need Auto, hopefully that ebay listing is correct.

I don't think so - the Auto needs the shift lock release button - I think theirs is manual as-well.

pm Defenderworx and Brian will let you know...

I haven't seen any Auto shifter replacements yet - good luck.

I really hope it is Auto, if you take a look at the first link I posted. Here is the picture, you can tell it is an Automatic.

Definitely Defenderworx but is says it's not available yet. The site pic doesn't show a button for the release though. Wondering if the guy just made it so the buttons engaged all the time.

If engaged all the time is safe, I actually like the setup that way. The shift lock button on the Auto Shifter sucks big time.

Woot! Great news, here is the reply:

"It is for the automatic vehicles. We use a spring load system to replace the button. It is such a simple switch. You take out the one screw that is hidden by a rubber/plastic cover in the front of the shifter. Remove the original shifter, slide ours over the shift lever, and tighten with our screw provided. Less than 2 minutes!!!"

Will let you guys know how it is once I have it install!

Glad to hear it - remember to try the discount code on camarocollection.com from my earlier post - good luck...

Thanks tjd, I tried the code, doesn't seem to work anymore. It takes the code, but the final total price doesn't change.

Post pics when your done. I am really interested in this, and a 2 min install seems easy enough.

Too bad - it worked in late December...

The shifter is just now becoming available. GM just recently approved it. I ordered on and it should be here shortly. I ordered if from customcarworx.com. They also offer the 15% discount.
