Uhhhh no it's not... It's adding ambient lighting all the way across the dash where none existed before...

you se this panel he is pulling off...my car doesnt have that panel lights behind it or not. where that plastic panel is in that car there is a solid mesh material in mine

based on that panel he's pulling and the 4 gauge cluster this is a 2ss so i dont know why there was not already a light behind that panel.

dude i've been wondering the same thing since the day i bought my car. i think that those of us that have a 1ss are screwed when it comes to this ambient lighting.

such a shame cause i think it's a sweet option.

WILL someone please pull their gauges off of their LS, 1LT, or 1SS already to see if the plug is there?

The plastic panel is replaced with a cloth panel. It's there, and I'd be willing to be it can be removed in the exact same way

No camaro has the ambient lighting across the dash from factory. Yes the car is a 2SS, but it only has the lighting on the door trim.

Your trim is covered by a streched and glued mesh/cloth material, and I'm almost sure can be removed in the same manner as described in the link givin above.

if ou really want ABL, you need to buy the 2LT/2SS trim panels, total is around 500. You need those panels because they are not completely painted. There is an ouside border that is left clear to let the light seap through.
Originally, the 2LT/2SS were supposed to have "complete" ABL, but then due to problems, they did it on the doors only.
Its a simple mod but the LS/1LT/1SS peeps gota pay to play.
Others have taken the cloth off their existing panels and had them painted, but i doubt you could do ABL that way because the panels would have probably been painted from the outside and it would just be a hassle. The panels we have are painted from behind.
The best method for you guys would be to get the replacement panels, go on to Camaroricks DIY thread and do the EL wire method, would be the easiest method
