I have a note in at my wholesaler,

I told them that I need these in stock ASAP, and I need a good price. We will see what I get back. I assume everybody is out of the office until Monday, so we will see if I get some good news then.

Not sure if I can get these much lower than other folks, but I will do my best!!!

Once they get down to a resonable price I will buy. I can get gears for a 4X4 cheaper than that. It's kinda crap if you ask me.

Yeah, for a C6 Corvette, I found a ring and pinion set for $300... we'll have to see if price comes down... until then with labor for install, it is out of my price range..

I asked my dealer for parts and labor, so I'll see what he comes back with. Also asked if there would be any warranty issues.

Still if anyone does put them in, looking for a full review!

I too am interested in the difference in aftermarket gear ratios over the stock. Is there a gear ratio 101 course I can take on the camaro5 forum?

Gear Ratio 101

Here is a simplified explanation;

Lets assume we are in 4th gear with an M6 (1 engine rev for 1 trans output rev - 1:1). Then you get to your rear end gears which are 3.45s (I think), so one rotation of your transmission gives you 3.45 revs for your axles... and then your tires diameter add to the equation... well if you change the rear end to 4.10, you are getting almost another rev for your axles... so going back up the drivetrain, you end up having more revs of your engine for the same revs of your tires, thus more fuel consumption. But the benefit is it requires less engine power to get those wheels rotating at the same rate as the old 3.45's, so in effect makes you accelerate quicker, and shorter 0-60 times with the same engine power.

I guess the bad thing would be is if you already have a hard time keeping your wheels from spinning, the shorter gears will make it worse.

Feel free to clarify more folks.

Ah, 3.45 turns of the driveshaft gives you 1 turn of the rear axle....

fixed

With factory gears your car goes this far with (engine) 1000rpm's
[--------------------------------------------------]
with 4.10's it goes this far with 1000rpm's
[----------------------------------------]

http://www.f-body.org/gears/

http://www.apexgarage.com/tech/gear_ratios.shtml

Try these calculators... I have heard of a guy that took his 2010 over 150 mph.. procharged, and could not get anything out of his sixth gear... so I would say a shorter gear is going to make 6th usable for top end... if that's what your looking for..

i know of a CTS-V in town that has done 184mph (stock with a tune) and they have the same auto trans gear ratio's (6L90E), and come stock with 3.70 gears

so i really would not worry about top end loss of course the cts-v has around 560hp at the crank,, but most of us here that are really modding our camaro's have that plus some.

i have the tune from his cts-v and i will be using the factory cts-v shift tables for my camaro after the 3.70 gear install
