Issues with the Convertible

Hi guys,

I was just thinking about how driving a Camaro convertible would be, and then I realized that I the windows in the camaro are too small, and the doors are too high!!

Imagine cruising down the road in a Camaro convertible. Try to put your arm to rest on the door... it's awkwardly high and it's not really possible. Plus, if you have anybody in the passenger seat, they probably won't really be able to see much out the window... and I bet you will see like their nose and up (but that's it), and it would look silly!

Has anybody given this any thought? With this in mind, I don't think the camaro is really a comfortable convertible car.

Does GM have any thoughts on this? I guess they could make it so that you can raise your seat even higher, and also have the passenger be able to raise his seat.

Good question, I didn't think about that until you said it. I'm sure the passenger seat will be adjustable (up/down) by then but yeah, I don't know about the arm thing.

Are there any pictures of the convert concept with people in it?

I see that since we have our cars..there really isn't much else to discuss haha jk. Yea I agree with you..the doors are way too tall to utilize the convertible "position". I'm curious if GM modified the seat height of both seats to offset this. If I remember correctly, isn't the windshield taller on the conv as well?

I will have to say though...the convertible doesn't have the "mean" factor to it....To me, it adds a girly figure. Not that I have anything against girls

Wow, those guys are taller than the windshield! lol

i bet they are sitting on pillows. the headrests only go to their necks.

If thats the prototype....wouldn't the interior be way off than the production?....look at the tach and speedo..they look white.

What are you talking about, I have rested my arm on the door while driving my Camaro, it's nota problem. Sure the door is higher than other cars but it wasn't uncomfortable. And I am not that tall. The convertible will be fine, It's just not for me.

I'm only 5'4, so I drive with the seat pretty high up and I can't rest my arm on the top of the door comfortably. I use the armrest.

ya ya ya just because your knuckles touch the ground when you walk hehe . What I think UCI was pointing out was compared to other convertibles, the top of the door where you rest your elbow is shorter.

Either way, it's not out yet..so there's no way to tell for sure. Just look at the pictures, the door handles aren't real. Which leads me to believe that it was made when it was a modified GTO (Bumblebee design)

Do you think they are going completely redesign the doors...and everything around them for the convertible? I don't think so!

if they could add adjustable seats it would probably be a big help. you wouldn't need the memory seats like the pic below, but give it vertical travel.

Agreed... i'm only 5' 9" and i constantly rest my arm on the door... actually usually have the elbow up there and still have a few fingers on the steering wheel.. LOL

I'm 6'1" and can rest my arm out the window, it feels different than any other car but I've gotten used to it and it's no longer an issue.

Good eye, looks like the dash strip and door panel will be White to match the White seats. Which would be fitting because most rice is white. LOL, taking cover lololol.:updown:

they should not change the dimensions or style of the car when they come out with the convertible. this car is a throw back/chopped up look that makes it one of the meanest/toughest cars on the block. this is part of the reason why i bought one of these instead of a challenger. they shouldn't mess with it.

Well I drove Camaros all last year with my arm on the door so I don't think it's a problem for me.

As far as the window opening, it will be identical to the coupe. It will use the same door glass. So your only complaint would be that somehow driving a convertible causes you to need to have your arm out the window more than driving a coupe?

The convertible should please everyone that wants the top to come down just as much as the coupe is satisfying everyone that doesn't.

just lift your chair up...i'm 5'10 and when i sat in one at the auto show i felt very low...but then i just lifted the chair higher to where i had better visibility
