How different is the LS3 in the SS and the vette

Are there any differences in the LS3 in the 08 vette than what will be in the SS camaro?

Also anyone have any links to stock dyno #s or sheets on the LS3?

Probably different cams and headers giving it less HP.

This has all you'll ever want to know about it.
There's a lot more than a tune or an intake that is different between the two.

I think most of the difference is the air intake on the Vette. Better air flow.

If that's true, it would be great news since I'm sure most people's first upgrades will probably be a higher flow cold air intake. Am I right?

Most likely the only difference is a computer tune. the Camaro LS3 is only 8 horsepower difference

computer tune, intake and exhaust changes, possibly a cam difference, not much of a difference, but keep in mind that just because two cars have the same power output (at the flywheel) doesnt mean they will have the same performance.

Exactly. They won't change the internals.

Actually a computor re-tune for the intake and exhaust.

The cost would be too high for them to make internal changes to an engine that is already mass produced (kinda). I'd say a little re-tune on the computer side and you'd be right back up to 430.

not really, look at the LS1s, the cams were slightly different between the two, oil pans were different and the accessories were routed differently as well which means more stuff to produce.

it is possible, but if GM is thinking that this is their "come back kid" then i dont see why they would make a lot of changes. also since we know the intake and exhaust are different (that to me = 8 hp), the adjustment to the cam would be so minor it wouldnt make any sense (from an economical stand point) to change the internals of the LS3

what it would do is ensure that the vette stays on top of the camaro. which with the cam, you are right, even with the LS1's, the differences were so minimal you couldnt really tell.
