Do believe everything you hear. The Valley has had a Divisional event there for at least the last 15 years. Crap tracks don't get that.
You think Manzo and the other top alcohol drivers would race there if it sucked. And they do break records there also.

Alright....what am I doing wrong here. The temp was low 80's. Reaction times look good and I'm still running in the 15's!!! WTH? All I have done is flowmaster axle back. Do you guys think the vararam intake will put me in the 14's? The last one got cut off but the stats were as follows:

Reaction: .1752
60 FT: 2.3010
1/8:9.73331
1/4:15.0640
1/4 MPH: 92.73

Actually reaction time has no effect on your ET. Looks like your 60' (2.30) is killing you. You need to work on that.... Couple questions. Automatic or Manual? What tires? Where you spinning?

Automatic/Factory P-zeros 274/40 zr20/ Not really spinning, just chirping off of the line. I was revving to about 2K with traction control off in sport mode.

Ok...

Unlike a normal street tire, thos P-Zeros, need a good burnout! Typically on a street tire, you would give them a quick spin just to clean them... But the P-zeros like to really be heated up... almost like a drag radial! Thing is with an automatic you may notice only one tire spinning due to the open rear end... don't worry... just get a good burnout...

I also found I got my best launches by simply flashing the torque converter off of idle (or barely above idle vs stalling the car up to 2000 RPM. Give that a try... so give it just a very little bit of gas to come up just off idle.. when you launch, let off the brake and smack the gas at the same time. With some practice you should get that 60' down to 2.1 or maybe even 2.0. That will get you in the 14s...

If you sat in the lanes with the motor running for any length of time, you most likely heat soaked the IAT which can cost you quite a bit of HP too.

I'll give it a shot!!! I am going to wait till I get the vararam intake put on, hopefully it will be in May, and then head back out there.

i've never been to a dragstrip in my life so for me a 15second time would be pretty sweet.... but with the few bolt-ons most of us have and some practice, low 14s are easily attainable. keep at it

Yeah, good 60' time would help your cause alot.

2.3 60' time is killing you.

Practice practice practice!

What kind of weather have you guys been seeing? I'm about 150 miles north of you guys and we've had one of the windiest springs I can remember and it's all from the south. Our track runs north to south. It's also been up to the mid-90's already here, so I don't know what you guys are seeing.

Im FINALLY going tomorrow. Last Sunday it rained and the other was Easter.

I finally feel comfortable driving stick and I know what Im doing now. First time I went a just dumped the clutch every time and shifted extremely slow.

Wish me luck guys! Only mods are intake + cut outs.

Ill be bringing my stock intake with me too and if I get the chance Im going to run the car bone stock to try and break some records.

Are you talking about keeping the foot on the gas, stabbing the clutch and grabbing a gear(keep the gear change lower than redline or you'll get into the rev-limiter) or floating a gear to get a change. When you float, you're basically dropping rpm's and grabbing a gear. A lot easier on the older muncies but I've been able to do it on this 6-speed. Benefit is the clutch doesn't become disengaged so it limits the clutch slip. Con is it's hard on synchros and, from what I've heard, our synchros aren't the best to begin with.

Good luck and have fun.

Damnit when I got to the track I looked over my intake and found the maf temp housing I had made was too hot to bother running with. Fortunately I brought my stock intake and threw that back on.

Ran a 14.3 bone stock! I'll post the time slip soon Im really tired right now. I do have cut outs but I closed them for that 14.3 run.

Im going to go back once I fix my intake. Im happy with a 14.3 stock though, first time ever racing a manual for real and Ive only been driving stick for 18,000 miles now so Im far from an expert.
