Some know if it will or not, but they tend not to share such information with everybody else. It will most likely go into production towards the end of 2011.

Its almost a foregone conclusion that it will be made by now, its just a matter of "when" really...i mean the sales of the SS Camaro went through the roof and all people wanna talk about is the Z/28 hype, so there's no way GM could over-look this marketing tool

Most people speculate a 2012 release though, 2010 brought the Camaro itself, 2011 will be known for the convertible, and most speculate 2012's big thing will be the new Z...now if we can just get around to agreeing on what should be used to build it...hahaha

Well, production of the convertible has not started yet, but the announcement could come any day. The Z28 would be the next big thing after the convertible. When that will happen is anybodys guess. Ask CamaroScotty, rumor has it he is driving a 2011 1/2 Z28 Mule.

I used to live in Germany. Imagine how hard it would be to properly break-in a 500+ HP Camaro on the autobahn while resisting the temptation to open it up.

I can resist anything but temptation.

Also imagine the girls that would want a ride.

Did I mention, I can resist anything but temptation?

I would agree, but they better do some tweaking to the LSA is they want to have bragging rights in the power output though and they better find a way to put the car on a diet. The 2011 GT500, let alone a 2012, is going to shed about 150-200lbs over the current 2010 model and without a power steering pump, parasitic drag is going to be reduced, as well. That alone could likely allow the current 5.4 engine achieve around 10-15hp at the crank over the 540hp it makes now.

I still think the LSA would have better torque, however, so even if they ended up with the same 556hp, the additional torque of the LSA would probaby be offset by the lighter weight of the GT500. Shed a couple of hundred pounds of the Camaro though.....

Whats on my mind is how much the Z will cost... If its priced like the GT500 I would rather get a 2012 Corvette.
Yeah, the curb weights listed on that particular sight seem way off. My 2010 G500 with its iron block and conventional power-steering weighs 3858lbs. The 2011's get an aluminum block and electric power-steering assist. Combined, the two changes should remove about 150-200lbs from the car. That would put a 2011 with the same options right at a 3708-3658 curb weight. Even with the heavy-ass Shaker 1000 stereo upgrade, you're still looking at a curb weight ~3800+-lbs.

A Z28 Camaro, on the other hand, would seem to pick up extra pounds with the LSA considering the additional weight of the supercharger and all the supporting equipment such as the intercooler, heat exchanger, fluids, etc. They would really have to find other areas to save weight just to keep the curb weight where the SS is now.

No, it is a very similar design but the LSA has a lower capacity blower (1.9L vs 2.3L, I think). The internals aren't as strong either.
