New Black bow-tie doesn't fit?? ><

Hey guys, I bought black powder-coated bow ties to replace the stocks ones. I removed the front one, and was dismayed to find out that the holes drilled in the bow tie are inches off from the holes on the grille. However the holes do line up with the slit on the grill but the screws don't seem to fit right.

I contacted the place where I bought it but was wondering if anyone here encountered anything similar.

Mine didn't match up with the holes in the grill but I don't think it was designed to. With the big "fender" washers it really isn't a problem securing it to the grill. The screws fit pretty tight in the slots. I got some nylon lock nuts but didn't used them as the supplied hardware works fine. I did use some Locktite on the studs in the bowtie so they wouldn't lossen. I have had mine off a few times to re-do my border color (IOM now) and everything has stayed tight.

Why didn't you just have the stock bowties powder coated?

Can you tell me exactly how you managed that? For me, the screws don't even really go through the slit and I have no idea how I'd get it both through the slit and screwed in to the back of the bow tie.

For those about to order bowtie replacements it would be nice to know what brand or where you bought them.

Thanks.

The one I bought is a total replacement. It doesn't use the original's frame.

I have the same Bowties from Ebay, however I bought billet from a different vendor. You just push the studs through the slots, not the holes. Place the large flat washer onto the studs, and carefully tighten the nuts a little on each side alternating back and forth. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
