I'm Baaaaaaaaack!

What's up guys! Long time no see. It's good to see the forum is still alive and kicking.

As some of you may know, my car was out of commission towards the end of the summer with a little transmission trouble. After some help from Scott, the GM executive office in Detroit, and East Hills Chevy on Northern Blvd, my car is now as good as new! I don't know how it happened, but they think that my clutch was toast and was the reason my 4 -> 5 upshift was slipping. How the clutch gets damaged in an auto, I'll never know. Instead of trying to repair it, GM decided to simply have a new transmission installed. I have to give a lot of credit to East Hills Chevy as they were a pleasure to work with.

Anyway, it's good to back on the forums and can't wait to see everyone again in the Spring.

Dan

PS - Anyone in the area get their Vararam unit yet? I got my PM, but haven't replied yet.

Welcome back, you didn't have to leave because your car was in the shop.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I left for a little while to deal with some other stuff I had going on. When I'm on this board, it feels like I'm on all day, so I decided to go on a little hiatus. Anyway, everything is good now, so I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Just reading some of the recent threads:
- Is anyone else from LI going to C5 fest? If we could get a good sized group, I would definitely be down.
- Does anyone else (locally) have that Afterburner conversion kit from AAC Style? Looks pretty nifty, but would like to see it in person.
- When the heck is it going to get warm out!?!?

By the way, I hope my clutch problem was and isolated one, but if anyone else does ever encounter something that shows similar symptoms, I do have a TAC (Technical Assistance Case) Number you could use as a referral. GM did a great job communicating with the dealership and keeping me updated with what was going on.

I have a car that I drive to work, so it wasn't the end of the world. It was still drivable, but it would just be slow shifting from 4th to 5th. Basically felt like it was in neutral before it actually made the shift.

Hey Dan,

Welcome back, glad to hear that everything worked out well. Hopefully once I get my car, I'll throw the afterburners in (when its warm out).

They offered, but since I had a daily driver I decided not to take it.

This is way too log to fix a tranny issue.

I should point out that East Hills Chevy only had the car for 3 weeks. This included diagnosis, ordering and waiting for the new tranny, and installation. The reason it took so long to get it to them was because I kept getting jerked around by two other dealerships, HB and Meyer. They kept saying they were overbooked and understaffed, but they might have time the next week. This went on for almost two months until finally my GM rep found East Hills.
