So would this show better gains over the AirRaid?

who knows...

but I can clearly see where it might do so because of the design differences.

But its all guesses until someone independently dynos each under the same conditions, and that will probably never happen lol.

I joined those waiting. My order says shipping between 2.23 and 2.25. I hope this doesn't hold up the flowmaster kit I ordered at the same time. They might be cheap and want to only ship once.

The price didn't update for me, but I searched for a discount code and that worked. its in this thread, gives you 15% off. I was actually buying the Flowmaster exhause system and the code worked on that as well, got both of those for under 700 shipped.

I asked this question in the AirRaid thread as well, but wanted to double-tap.

Can someone explain to me how a CAI is any better than merely putting a $50 K&N filter into the stock intake system? The stock air box is right behind the grill, so it should be pulling cold air.

Thanks for your help!

Wild guess time... I'm thinking the stock snorkel and the opening in the stock air box that the snorkel snaps into is a bit of a restriction...

That would be my WAG as well, just the volume of air that the CAI is able to pull in versus the K&N filter in the stock air box.

If anyone has another thought I'd be happy to hear it, thanks Scrming!

The major difference is that the Ingen theoretically draws cooler air in from the it's front bumper location resulting in more horsepower. Nobody really knows the performance difference as we haven't got them yet.

The difference is the ingen is a COLD air intake!...... Look at it for yourself !!

The Airaid is NOT!
Yes they try to call it a CAI. The STOCK intake is not called a COLD air intake BUT, it is more of a COLD air intake than the AIRAID !

The stock intake is 100% sealed the AIRAID is not.

Per Jerry at Injen, he said you can get to the filter through the wheel well.

Just when I think I'm going in a new direction (Blackwing intake, IAT relocate) this Injen comes along. My head hurts.

From wikipedia FYI
Hydrolock (a shorthand notation for either hydraulic lock or hydrostatic lock) is an abnormal condition of an internal combustion engine in which an incompressible liquid, commonly water, has been introduced into one or more cylinders, causing immobilization or damage. Hydrolock can occur because an internal combustion engine must compress a volume of gas in order to operate, while most common liquids that could enter an internal combustion engine do not compress. If liquid is introduced at a volume greater than the volume of the combustion chamber at its minimum (top of the piston's stroke), the piston cannot complete its travel. Either the engine must stop rotating or a mechanical failure will occur.

Hydrolock is relatively common when driving through floods, either where the water is above the level of the air intake or the vehicle's speed is excessive, creating a tall bow wave. A vehicle fitted with a Cold air intake mounted low on the vehicle will be especially vulnerable to hydrolocking when being driven through standing water or heavy precipitation.
