When is a deal final

Curious ... signed all the papers for a finance on a 2010 2rss. Have $500 down but the remaining "up-front" money will be paid upon picking up the car tomorrow. I bought it off the showroom floor, it literally just came off the truck ... it's not a car I pre-ordered, as i mentioned it was there i asked about it, researched a bit and decided to go for it ... question, I have someone else making me offers on another car and although I'm not particularly interested, suppose this other dealer gives me magical #'s ... as long as I do not take delivery of the car I can opt out. Not that I woudl or am but I am curious.

I signed all the paperwork with the finance manager, even have the insurance cards done up ...

if you signed papers stating your agreement for purchase; it's done... unless you didn't wave the 60 days gm return offer or your state has a cool off period...

I think that you might forefeit the $500 deposit, but otherwise if money hasn't changed hands and you haven't taken delivery you can still opt out of the deal. I think a better way to go would be to negotiate with your current dealer if you get a better deal somewhere else to match that deal.

That was in 2009, there is no 60-Day Return Policy anymore.

I believe every state has a consumer "regret" period, usually a few days. Since the car was in stock already that also may change things up. At worst, you would forfiet the deposit. I doubt that another dealer would be willing to drastically undercut anyone else on a new Camaro as they are all hosing everyone. I dont think it's worth the time, effort and money to go back on your current deal. Grab the keys, hop in and drive away and forget worrying if the car would have been $$$ cheaper down the road...that will always drive you crazy.

Just curious. Is the other car a Camaro too?

Just askin'

Sounds like it is but...............

If so, like the previous poster said, get your guy to lower and match.

Unless the contract specifically states you have a "cooling off" period then the deal is done. Read the contract carefully.

Many people believe in the myth that you have "3 days" to change your mind when buying a car. To my knowledge no state has that unless it's a real estate transaction.

Very good points. And thankfully I used this forum to my advantage and did research before signing, and a signature is a deal and I'm not one to go back on deals. I was curious though the ramifications. I like the "grab the keys , hop in and drive" idea alot .. that's the plan! And yes the other car is a camaro as well ...
