Painted Caliper Exchange Program

Showstopper Accessories is now offering our painted caliper exchange program. We will paint a set to your specs, send them to you and then you send your originals back to us. Leaving the least amount of down time for your ride. We could paint any color you would like, with or with out emblems. Pricing starts at $375 shipped, sorry guys but we have to do a core charge of $400 which will be refunded once sending your originals back to us. We take them apart and put them back together to make sure that there are no tape lines.

D*@"N" You Showstopper

Are you reading my mind. Do you realize I took off work yesterday and today because I am trying to work out how to get High Temp paint color matched to my Red Jewel Tintcoat with white BREMBO stenciled on. I have a body shop and an automotive paint shop in Dayton trying to find the right kind of paint that can be mixed to match the RJT. They even called PPG direct and asked with no luck. They said their paints with catylist are only good to about 200 degrees and I think you need a about 500+ rating. Duplicolor and a few others have their systems but no color matched to the GM body colors which is what I want.

So I have an email into Ltdspeed to see what brand paint he got from where to do his. I also have the cleaner and stencil on their way to my house.

Can you color match to RJT in high temp paint with white "brembo" (I would send them too you since I already purchased them) stenciled back on with 2 coats of clear on top also High Temp? Majestic Customs here on Dayton can do it for quite a bit less, but if you can get the paint and do it all... I may just add the additional $ to my tab with you and have you do them too since I am going to have so many showstopper cosmetic mods on my car already.

No not yet. But i would not recommend that because of brake dust. Those things will look black in about 5 minutes of driving.

Can you match the blue of the ZR1 Vette calipers? If so, I'd be interested in ordering a set with brembo in silver writing.

Yes, that would look sick. We could do any GM paint color you could think of.

You could always buy them from GM parts direct or some other OEM parts store. GM parts direct has front SS calipers for 101.99, and rear for $76.49. I've got part numbers if you need them.

That's exactly what I had in mind.

Calipers will be mailed on Tuesday

This was a pain. The first caliper (front Drivers Side) took about 1.5 hours and two trips to Harbor Freight and O"Reilly's.

Once one was off, we started rockin. The other Front came off much easier, and the rear were easy and a piece of cake. All three others came off in about 30 mins with a impact, 1/2 18mm (6 point vs 12 point a must or you will strip them) and a large breaker bar. The impact wrench wouldn't touch the 18s or the "star bolts" on the front. Rear are your normal allen wrench.

I may go with silver stencil, not sure yet.

They will go in the mail Tuesday since I will have to pick up some boxes and bubble wrap.

showstopper... I will PM you with the particulars.

Calipers Mailed via Fedex.

Shipment Location: Ohio
Ship date: Feb 1, 2010
Estimated delivery: Feb 3, 2010
Destination: St Charles, IL

For anyone sending yours in... Bubble wrap (moderate amount), styrofoam peanuts and a 14x14x14 inch box fits perfectly weighing in at 39.30 lbs. All parts still attached. (but loosened for showstoppers ease)
Cost for Shipping with Insurance, signature by fedex ground 2 day - $26.

Not bad....

Great advice. And not a bad price either.

JEWL,

How did you cap off the brake lines once the calipers were removed, or did you drain the brake fluid from the system?

Thanks.

I didn't drain the whole system. only what was in the calipers and a little more. Be sure not to pump the brake at all until everything is back together and you are going to bleed them.

There was very minimal drainage so I just zip tied the front around an over-spring and then made sure there was enough clearance when I let the car back down on the wheels. (Plenty of room) Rear, I zipped them to a whole for one of the wheel well fasteners. You'll see it. I "baggie'd" them and zipped them too.

There was very minimal drainage but by lifting the lines up, gravity didn't cause them to leak.

I bought brass caps (had to buy two pieces) from O'Reilly's to cap them when I take the OEM lines off to have custom Stainless lines made. It may not even drip and since the Parker Store will do them while I wait we will see if they are even needed. I think they were 3/8 caps.
