SAVE THOR!

You all know that Thor is Fbod's steed right? The Rally Yellow horse of the 5th horseman of the Camaropocalypse?

Well..if you don't..YOU SHOULD!

Fbod has done so much for this community, and the Camaro community as a whole; and I think it's time we said thanks in a big way. I think it's time we GAVE FBOD THAT CAR! FOR GOOD!

Thor and Scott were one of the reasons why I went to Fort Ti back in early spring to check out the car. It was probably the first 2SS I had seen driven, sat in, and almost got to drive myself! I think that because of the graciousness that Scott Settlemire has shown us that we at least owe him this token..

Fbod, this one's for you buddy!

How much does he need? Would it be possible to make a counter to track amount collected so we could keep and eye on the goal.

It's a 2SS/RS 6Spd w/ Sunroof. So I'd say about 45K would cover tax title and all fees involved. So about 50-100 a piece ideally. But any bit will count, so don't feel obligated to donate that much! But hey, if you want to donate 500, by all means feel free.

We need to keep Thor and Fbod together!

45? Is that canadian pricing? I would think he would get employee pricing and its not a brand new vehicle. I would be happy to donate if we could get some more facts.

Well I went back and built it online

Here's MSRP: $36,610.00 USD via Chevy Camaro site

Tax and title will probably run him: $2746.00 USD via Edmunds auto loan calc.

2ss/RS w 6spd and Sunroof. Also threw in a color matched engine cover for him to pick up if he so wishes. From my memory I think it had one so that's why I added it into the price. You can crosscheck it on the chevy website.

Thanks
You would..

But seriously, this is for Fbod. I want him to also ask where I can deposit this once we start hitting the endpoint.

Also note that Donation accounts cannot be accessed by the user until they buy a business account. I'm not going to do that until we've confirmed that it's reached the endpoint. I will also give my paypal passcode to Fbod and a third person designated by himself in order to make sure none of this money goes anywhere but to the fund to purchase the car for Scott Settlemire.

I want to do this as honestly and safe as possible for all parties involved, so if you have any questions or concerns please voice them here or via PM if you so please.

Is he not rather high up at GM i doubt seriously he would have to pay full MSRP? I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt here but if we can maybe get fbod to give us some kind of total that we can aim for i would feel more comfortable.

I do as well. Also in order to orchestrate how to transfer the funds from the donation account to his name so he can go buy it.

I don't want to be sitting on this stuff in limbo and have it all go downhill in a charliefox.

As for test cars, those are the pre-pro cars that had the camo on them. The CTF cars are production cars built for testing and can be resold after being retrofitted to meet production standards at time of sale.

So Thor can be retrofitted as GM sees fit before it can be released to an auction block for sale as a used vehicle. Scott could then purchase the car before it goes to auction (or however that works) with our help, once I get the particulars squared away.

I agree that Fbod has and continues to help this forum and all its members and is deserving of our thanks and appreciation. This is a great idea that I would be happy to donate to. First Scott needs to agree to this and secondly has to let us know what he can purchase Thor for from GM. Then we can move forward.

Agreed. So as OP of this thread I will say that I'm holding off (hence why I already removed the links but kept the donation site going) on really spooling this up until we get the word from Scott on how this can go down.

Here's for the best.

Oh, and SAVE THOR!

guys, i know myself i appreciate what fbodfather does, but i assure you he can more than afford to purchase a camaro if he chooses. He's not destitute and this is absolutely not necessary. My wife and i make well under $50k a year and can still afford to buy a 2ss so i don't think Scott is gonna need a handout to buy his car..

Why does Thor need saving? Is GM going to take it from him?

In the end, they will. Its technically not his but more a company car from my understanding. When it's time to 'retire' the car at GM's discretion they will just give him a new CTF and sell Thor after a retrofit as a used car.

IIRC it's common practice for car manufacturers to do so.

So I wanted to start this to save the car because he had already purchased one for his Mother and said that he couldn't afford this one on top of the other car.

I'm in for at least a little donation (I just took a 15% paycut and another 5% is likely on the way...) so when things get official, I'll be there

Is this a great community or what?!!!

He has 21"s on there too...

EDIT: Ok, i guess he doesnt. I remember thinking to myself those werent the correct wheels, but i looked at some previous posts and the Unveiling thread itself and saw pictures of Midnight Silver on the car. I think i got it mixed up with the Camaro they had at the Pittsburgh Auto show for whatever reason.

This is probably true for a large part of the membership here. Its a great idea and I'll do what I can upon concurrence of Scott but how about a back up plan..... what if the membership here petitioned GM to donate the car to Scott. I'm sure a ton of email directed to the right person would get a lot of attention and I believe there will be far more people able to participate.

Sorry. I'm still kind of at odds with how the building/delivery of my car was handled. Still no ground effects and Scott Settlemire not answering my questions about the ground effects directly but instead skirted around it by saying bankruptcy was not a reason. That response still sticks in my craw. Deliver a complete product and I'll sign/donate. Well, thank you for the indirect response. Still have no ground effects and I'm about to leave for vacation on July 24th and wanted my car complete. Going to be over a month since I took delivery and nothing more heard about it. Scott is a great politician and spinster but not very good at answering clear cut, direct questions. I hope he pays for his car like the rest of us have to. After getting cut up in the finance office, I don't pity him if he loses his car. Sorry folks, I just don't agree. If we can't get hand-outs, he shouldn't either. Just an honest disagreement. I hope he doesn't leave the company though. Good luck with everything Scott. I still like you man!
