SEIBON trunk problems

so i ordered a carbon fiber trunk and since i have installed i cant seem to get this thing right. first problem

where that corner meets the body it has been rubbin up against nothing bad damage wise which i didnt really care because you cant see that area when its closed but would like to have it fixed so it doesnt rub. THen today while closing the trunk i noticed towards the middle on both left and right the trunk was now rubbing against the body also leaving some marks which are easily removed with nufinish but i dont like it like that.

2nd gap issues

it seems that the left side has no real problem with spacing issues while going on. But the right side does not want to line up right and then when i get it where it looks decent its rubbing so i dont know what to really do.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? is there an easy way to install this? I dindt really pay attention to how the spacing was on the stock trunk so am having major issues.

That's how many aftermarket body parts are. It's hard to find a company that will get the fitting 100% correct.

I like Seibon too, but this is the reason why I am weary to get any aftermarket body parts.

loosen the bolts, put some temporary stops like the small round ones you can buy from Home Depot (they normally go underneath the legs of tables, chairs, etc, get the thin and flat kind) in places where it rubs and use as alignment guides, and align to your satisfaction and tighten the bolts. If you put them on the trunk side, you can even leave them on as a soft spacer to prevent rubbing.
If that doesn't solve it, something wrong with the part.

When I used to hang out on the 350z forums, I heard nothing but bad things about Seibon. Everybody seemed to have fitting problems with their products.

Same here. I'll be crushed if it doesn't fit well...

Maybe the parts have better fitment when you use more of or all of the parts? Aftermarket quarterpanels, rear bumper and trunk will fit better than mixing with oem parts?

no, intial testing for parts were done on OEM cars. They make one item at a time and fit it. They don't make all their components and then test them.

Besides, the quarter panel cannot be replaced. It's stamped on to the main body of the car. Not a plastic part like the fenders, bumper, and front fascia.

Honestly it looks like it distorted down by the light and you cant do anything about it. Maybe they didnt let it cure in the mold long enough. Or the mold is a lil off.
