as long as we're speculating..... I see a super/turbo v12 coming down the pipe. Either that or the W12 to keep the wheelbase shorter.

or.....

Turbines............... oh wait chrysler tried that

Those who don't learn from history is doomed to repeat it.

Apply that to several areas:
1970's cars (WHooohoo the days of 175hp cars!)
Deleted (no comment)
Ex-Girlfriends (the judge says I can't talk about it)
ECT....

Hm, yeah okay i can see that, the 4th gen Camaro/Firebird had a 10 year run, 5 years, then a redesign, then 5 more years, so i could see the Mustang following that formula (starting in 05' now the redesign in 2010, then re-working the car for a new generation in 2014) then again i could see them just doing a 2009-2010 type redesign once 2014 rolls around kinda in the same sense as what they did with the foxbodies. Either way would be great but im still fairly certain the 5.0 is a planned keeper for many a year to come haha, just as im confidant the LS engines will last many more years before GM gets the Direct Injection away from their V6s and starts toying with it in V8s, cant wait =D haha

I sure hope so. I know that GM and ford will find a way to keep the V8 engines. Its just that the ways things are going I wouldnt be surprised.

My two cents. I remember when they went from gen 1 to gen 2. I remember thinking "what have they done to the Camaro they ruined it!". I still think that way. To me the gen 1 and the gen 5 are equally beautiful. Though I never bought a gen 1 or 2, I did not start driving Camaros until gen 3. I am a motorcyclist first and foremost and I could not afford a Camaro and feed my motorcycle addiction at the same time until 1987. I have had 4 of them since then. An 87 V8 sport coupe, 98 Z28, 02 ss, and '10 1SS. Gm will be hard pressed to get 1 up on the gen 5. I truly hope that they do not look to the gen 2 for inspiration.

GM should continue evolving the Camaro the way it has been through the years, matching the times and all, but should start producing modern day 1st gen Camaros with 67-69 bodies but all 2010 Camaro equipment =D just how you can order brand new 60s Cobras from Shelby

The Zeta would be great if the could refine it a little more. But after hearing the news the new platform may be the right direction to go, start from scratch rather than revising every so many years.

You guys wonder why we have a strict no politics rule.

Blanket statements with absolutely no researched back up and blatant disregard for any facts presented otherwise.
On top of that thinking that the other side is always wrong and your side is always right.

last warning. **NO politics** is clearly stated in the forum rules. I will be handing out infractions if it continues.

If only Chevy would do the same with the first gen SS or Z28.

I know this sounds weird..but I am kidda liking the RS/SS idea being the V6 SC/TT.
of course the SS would still be LS3
and then the Z28 could be the DI V8

i don't fear the death of the V8. take a look at the development they've done in V6 engines, and look how far they're pushing them from horsepower and mileage. I don't think V8's have seen the end of their development days yet.

Moving to a lighter platform is great news to me, i'm dying to know what the "6th gen" is going to look like though, how much smaller will it visually appear, if any. and i fear the explosion that will occur in the photoshops thread when the first photos of it are released....

I see where your going. Maybe make the RS a supercharged V6 package and put a more efficient DI V8 in the SS.

Nope. I want my V8. I want to keep at at least a little bit of the soul in this car, heritage is one of the Camaros biggest assets.

You guys are tryin to confuse me or somethin here...

RS= appearance package. LT = V6 engine (on current Camaro).

SS/RS on the gen 5 = An SS with the RS package.

Wow. Less than a year after launch of the 5th gen people are already looking for a 6th gen. How about 1 at a time and enjoy what gm has already done for us and leave the future for the future. I know it's humane to keep wanting more but you should keep it on the DL.

Lots of speculation from none other than Motor Trend... But they are right that Alpha is the future for RWD in NA and that means Camaro.
I wouldn't worry too much about the V8 option on any future generation Camaro. If the Mustang has a V8 and that's very likely then the Camaro will too.

I think we have to trust that GM will make the Gen 6 Camaro an even better car than the 5th Gen. All we can do is make our preferences known for a V8 and be thankful GM survived the financial crisis that bankrupted them. A lot can change in 4 years, and gas could be well over $4 a gallon forcing all auto manufacturers to make some even tougher decisions. If the Camaro looses the V8 for fuel economy reasons, then so be it. If they offer a twin turbo V6, then the V8 will likely be only in a higher end model (Z/28). I doubt GM is happy that the SS is diluting the CAFE ratings, when it is clear they expected more LS/LT models to be sold.

Personally i think thats just completely selfish and a complete betrayal of GM loyalty as far as those guys go...as far as the paying off and ordering a 6th gen thats more like it haha, as long as you can bring yourself to part with your 5th gen =P
I think you missunderstood me a little. But just a little. Its not wrong of me to hope my car skyrockets in value. Thats why I bought a chevy in the first place and not a kia. If the 6th gen is a turd, its a turd whether I have a 5th gen or not. And if its not, im not parting with my 5th gen to get a 6th, I will just get a 6th, just like I did with my 4th and 3rd gens I still own.
