Mike, My calipers are the roller skate weighted ones. How do you handle these? Do the skates come off? Can you do the core charge swap with this kind?

those skates are on your brake pads. They replaced the stick on weights.

I received my calipers back from Mike today and I am very happy and impressed. I have seen how good they look in photos but nothing like seeing and feeling the quality in your hands. Great job Mike, you have another happy customer. Now I am hoping for some warm temps to install them.

If the local customer who dropped a set of calipers off at my house today could get hold of me, I would appreciate it. I remember talking to someone local via email or pm in the last few weeks, but can't find any trace of it.

I really want to do this. I can't decide what color to do. Red to match possible suspension mods and the SS emblems, or Metallic Black to match the accents and future stripes on my car, or Aqua Blue to match the main body color. I'd like to get the Carbon Flash integrated into the wheels some how so that's why I am thinking Red or Aqua Blue would be the way to go. But if I go with Brushed/Machined wheels then the metallic black with red lettering would look nice too...

I vote red. Red Calipers look awesome!

Then again if you did want to be unique, you could go ABM. Or best of all, maybe ABM with red "Brembo" on them?

I personally wouldn't want metallic black brakes. Just my opinion thought, best of luck to you deciding!

Oh and Mike, I will have work for you on my brakes this summer! Funds aren't available right now, nor is down time for the camaro, haha. Keep up the good work though!

Depends. Early build 2010's used the stick on weights. Later they went to the roller skates like on mine. It all has to do with trying to keep the brakes quiet. Trying to kill the harmonic vibration that causes brake squeal. Some people never have a hint of it while others have had terrible noise issues.

I planned on updating the list today, but there hasn't been much movement, and picking up a box this morning, I tweaked my back and couldn't work at all today. After a couple beers, I can finally sit down at the computer now. Hopefully I'll be back on track tomorrow.

Summone, I think the aqua blue calipers look really cool, the red brembo would work on that really well too.

As for the box that someone local left, it was actually a box the post office delivered. It was broken and the bottom was fully broken out. Once I did took the calipers out of it this morning, I found the label and postage on the new bottom of the box.

Just a hint, if you are shipping yours to me, don't use the post office. I've had three customers lose a caliper each in the past, including one Rotora, one Stoptech and one stock Corvette caliper. The post office is staffed by government union workers who have nothing to lose and no accountability if they damage stuff. I've also had three international shipments just disappear from my local post office after dropping them off. Fortunately, those weren't brakes.

Yeah I am leaning towards red, even though ABM screams custom, the red just pops more, and it looks good behind the wheels on the Blue and dark colored cars like Black wow.

I vote ABM! Check out spikeIII's build thread. He has an ABM Camaro and got his done ABM. I have an RJT and did mine to match also! I just think that the calipers look better powdercoated to match the car. Especially a lighter color like ABM I think red would not look right. IMHO! On black, RED looks killer!

I've seen Shardik's RJT in person that Mike did Good looking calipers!

I will probably go with ABM.

sorry for the lack of movement on the list and slow updates and PM replies.

I threw my back out the other day and am getting no work done right now, and the meds have me a little loopy.

I will update it soon, and I should be able to get two sets out next week if I'm feeling better come monday morning. I've got a backlog of about 10 sets of brakes now and one set of wheels, plus misc. other parts like sways and springs to get through before I can do the core exchange stuff though.

Can you put me on the Core swap caliper list? I'd like a set in summit white to match my car. How many ahead of me? How much?

Hope your feeling better soon

I searched and found a DIY on pad install but is there one on swaping out the calipers?

I would like that too! The calipers are pretty straight forward, but I want to know exactly how to handle the fluid during the swap. Must it be completely drained? If not how do you cap the lines? I could do it by just draining all the fluid and replacing, but these modern ABS systems need a specialized flush after that and if I have to pay a shop for that I may just pay them to to the caliper swap as well.

Check out post #785 in this thread for info on how to cap them off if you are sending yours in. If you are swapping them out, the little bit that leaks out while you are swapping calipers isn't a big deal. They do need to be bled afterwards though.

Normally, when I do a swap out for customers here, I completely flush all of the fluid. Its a good idea to do that once a year anyways.

On the back, its still not 100%, but I was able to work for about an hour today, breaking down a few sets of calipers in anticipation of coating again tomorrow.
