CAI Sound Difference?

Question to all you guys out there with aftermarket intakes... Is there a noticeable sound difference at idle or under acceleration once you changed your intake? I had a supercharged car previously that I put an aftermarket intake on, and it obviously was night and day difference. Is there any difference with yours? Thanks!

They usually have a noticeable difference in sound at WOT. Check the K&N install thread, I think the OP mentioned something about it there as well.

Depends on the CAI... I've had 3 different ones on my car and all were different. An enclosed box you won't hear so much, but the Hennessey CAI you will definitely hear. Don't notice anything at idle, but on instant acceleration you will.

You will probably notice a sound difference at WOT, but it isn't something completly noticeable. I would say you would here a difference yourself, but from an untrained ear, you won't.

I was hoping there would be a sound difference when I installed my C5GR CAI but I can't hear anything.

Definitely a sound difference when getting in to it with the CAI CAI. Very nice sound change.

My mother had a K&N typhoon intake installed on her 06 R/T charger and you can hear a noise difference upon acceleration with the windows rolled down. Makes a whistle noise. It's really cool!

it just might be me, but I installed a K&N CAI this weekend and to me my exhaust sounds a lot louder under acceleration and better motor reponse. No sound difference under the hood.

I have the ADM street version. It is a closed in box but I still noticed the sucking noise under medium to hard acceleration. I love it!!!

I can absolutly hear a difference. It's not gonna wake the neighbors, but it's as if the car takes in a huge breath of air when you gas it.....if that makes any sense.

+1 to above Cacadeech. I originally had a Hennessey on mine and you could noticeably hear a vacuum sounds even at part throttle. Sounded great. No idle difference but definitely part throttle and WOT sound difference. I think the ones that have a very well sealed heat shield or sealed airbox might not produce that same sound but I don't know. You can buy an heat shield for the Hennessey, and I did, but it has a terrible seal. Sounded same with and without it. Mine now has a different intake and shield, way better design (tubes, dual cone filter, and sealed heat shield - comes with LPE's 650 package) and is sure looks great but I can't anything over the huge whine of that blower!
