Where to get Mods on Eastern Long Island

I should be receiving my 2SS RS in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where I can take it to get some mods. Interested in CAI, exhaust upgrade, etc. Can dealerships perform these or are there local businesses that specialize in these? Thanks.

congrats you are going to love your car
the cai you can do your self the exhaust too if you have the ramps and jack stands cat backs are pretty much bolt in
dont pay anyone to put the cai in I can do it for you if you dont want to do it your self , should take 30 minutes
this should give you an idea what the cai entails,

There are plenty of options out there for mods that you can easily do yourself... or with a friend.

A great start would be a CAi and an exhaust upgrade. I would be happy to help you order both. It all depends on what your goals are, and your budget.

If you would like me to help you out, just send me a PM and we can get you started.

Nessenger Chevy in Medford is doing CAI, cat backs, kooks headers and tunes. If ya got big dollars they are also doing procharger installs.

I have been told that just a tune, cat back and cai will not void warranty if they do it. Dont know about the headers. The supercharger however is an insta void (as expected).

Since Ramp closed there were no GM performance dealers on Long Island. GM awarded it to Nessenger and they took a bunch of mechanics from Ramp who were the previous installers of the after market upgrades.

Just spoke to Nessenger they said a tune can void your warranty even if they did it and it usually runs $499 if there is no difference as far as warranty goes I would rather go to chucks COW tune

Thanks for the replies. Do you have any brand recommendations for the CAI or exhaust? I need to hear how it sounds factory, but from what I've read, the exhaust sound needs some work and if I can get some extra hp out of it, even better. I like how the magnaflow catback sounds online. I guess I am looking for a low, rumbling, throaty sound when you step on it. Nothing too obnoxious, it's kinda hard to put into words.

hey dave did you see the video I did a whole review on the cai
I went with Cold air inductions cai and Spintech Cat back after about 10000 sound clips and hours of research check out our clubs website for the review, link is in my signature

I like cold air inductions best for pipe and cone type and I dig the vararam too
exhaust is more personal preference get the sound you like because for the most part the performance bump should all be close

my exhaust is going on soon but I liked the sound of the flowmasters spintech mbrp borla is nice too

you could buy you mod needs with any of the fine sponsor here.....or you could try Rpm North http://www.rpmnorth.com/ my brother take his srt8 chally there all the time for upgrades like the exhaust he had done by them.... but i would buy stuff from here first and have it installed by them later....just my 2 cents

Congradulations!!!

My wife is do May 24th, it will be our first. I remember seeing the car seat in the backseat of yours at Arnolds. I told my wife that and she said yeah right there is no way anyone could put a car seat in the back of the camaro! I'm like someone did, so we were car seat shopping and there was one that had orange trim so I made her register for that one so it would match the car!!! She was pissed! I couldn't help but laugh! Car is doing great, has not left my driveway since Thanksgiving, i'm stockpiling parts to install as soon as the weather breaks! Can not wait to see what the new rims look like on the car! How's things with yours done any mods?

The fun part of owning a muscle car is learning how it works and how to make it the way you like as far as mods (parts) there are alot of companies with good parts as far as paying somebody to do it for you i think it kills the fun a havinng a hot rod besides alot of the MOD or TUNNING SHOPS in here will not tell you in here how much does it cost to install something 99% of the time they will tell you to call them as if its TABOO to ask and thats because they most likely gonna over charge you up the wazoo think about everything they have for these cars are BOLT ONs means remove and direct replacement just think your average shop charges bet $70 and $90 bucks an hour labor an cat back exhaust takes the most an hour and a half and thats if you run into a problem usually take less time and there are people in here that have paid $300 bucks for that install thats a RIP OFF so ask alot of questions before your purchase and install unless you are rolling in dough me i dont like being taken F--k that sorry i had to vent ive been asking a few shops in here for prices and they are full of it lol

Good point. I have a good friend who is a mechanic. We are gonna order the parts and he is going to help me install them so I don't screw anything up. Looking forward to doing it myself. Sheesh, i haven't worked on my own car since my 1976 chevelle malibu.

Yeah, last year he built a detached garage with a lift so we are good to go. He wants one of these cars bad so he is looking forward to getting under the hood and helping out. All I have to do is let him drive it once in a while, as long as I am in it of course.

Its a little bit of a drive bu Vette Doctors in Amityville ( www.vettedoctors.com ) is absolutely phenominal they have the fastest Vettes in the world, great personal service, and extremely reasonable prices (a few years ago they rebuilt my C5's tranny for like $1200 which is CHEAP).
