My Camaro is Hurt

ARGH! On my way to work this morning some guy didn't have his mattress box springs secured. It flew out and bashed my Camaro. I just took it by a body shop to get a quote. Anyone have any good recommendations?

Thus far:
- Front Drivers Side Post - Huge Dent
- Back Trunk left side stripe gash
- Spoiler - seemed to take the brunt of everything. Needs totally replaced.

The part i'm most worried about is color. The dealer body shop indicated they'd have to totally paint the drivers post area (which obviously extends up and over the door and down the back area). The trunk needs to be repaired, which they said they could most likely do as a paintless dent repair. Though they didn't seem totally sure to me.

That totally sucks.

For the spoiler you might take a look at this one on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=160403327382

They will paint it in any of the Camaro colors. I received one a few days ago and it looks really good. At $110, it's affordable.

Good luck on your repairs.

That sucks. It really suprises me how some folks transport things. A few years ago one of my co-workers was driving on the freeway and was unable to avoid a mattress that flew of the car in front of her. It wedged itself under her truck. By the time the police showed up the truck was on fire. Total loss.

i recommend Marc Heitz Body shop, I had a issue that happen and they returned it perfect. Are you going through insurance company? his or yours? If his take it to Marc Heitz they had to paint my VR camaro too and it looks fantastic

I have a spoiler and you can have it for the shipping. It's Summit White.

I also have a friend that does bodywork and paint. If your car is the Cyber Gray like in your avatar the guy you talked to is right. Metallics are much harder to blend and make look right. Silvers and metallic shades of gray are the worst to blend.

Thanks all! That's my car in the avatar, which it is cyber gray. I'm a graphic designer as my primary occupation and it's quite insane how often I see mis-matched colors!

I've been getting quotes all day. The general pricing seems to be just right around 2k for everything. I'll have to check out Marc Heitz.

So this morning after it happened I think we both were planning on just having a gentleman's agreement (though with insurance as the backup). After I told him how much it'd be, I think he kind of freaked out a bit. I am sure by the time it's all said and done we'll have to go through insurance. I was about to go ahead and call now and get the ball rolling. Unfortunately, I did not get a police report (nor did they even come).

And that eBay spoiler looks interesting. So I assume from this its just an aftermarket version (assuming that based on OEM style). I looked up pricing and it was like 307 for a replacement piece.

@springperpete - very nice of you to offer that. probably won't end up taking you up on that offer but i'll keep it in mind. i'm sure this weekend will be lots of questions and phone calls.

That stinks, I smell negligence. Call the cops, call a lawyer.

I say, if the guy did not have his property secured in his truck properly and it caused damages to your vehicle. Well, you should have made a police report and have his insurance pay for the damages. That is the best way to go, trust me I know (law enforcement experience). Hopefully he is honest with his insurance agent and admit fault. The good thing it's fixable but I'm sorry it happened. I feel you pain.

Don't feel bad because I think my damages have yours beat by a long shot.
