Question regarding heater - A/C controls ...
Hey guys ... just got my car 2 days ago and I have a question ...
I put the windshield defroster on the other day ... and it won't shut off! Well, not entirely true .... my question is if I depress it once it turns on, but if I depress it again, it stays on. Now, the A/C button (snowflake), the "recirculation" button and the rear-window fe-fogger button ... all those are depress once for one (light comes on) and depress twice for off (light goes out) ... not so with the defroster on my car .... The only way I can get it (the orange light) to turn off in the windshield defroster button is to press a button on the left side control, like the dash panel or lower ducting .... then the defroster orange light goes off and the blue light for the corresponding button on the left side control goes on ... So in other words .... something is ALWAYS on (lit up) on my heater-control panel .... Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I'm just trying to figure out if I have a problem or if I'm just not understanding how it works .... Thanks in advance ... |

Sounds normal. I just tried mine and sometimes I did have to hit one of the buttons on the left to get the def to turn off. It may have something to do with the fan. I think my fan dial was off. Then when I turn the fan on, and started with the heat floor or faced selected - then turned on the def - I could hit the def button a second time and it would turn off and revert back to whatever was last selected.
Try turning your fan on, hit a left button for floor or face air flow, then hit the def button. Then hit the def button a second time. If it then reverts back to whatever was selected before def, then it is working like mine. |

You are correct .... with the fan dial turned to any setting in the "on" range, the windshield defroster button does operate normally (once on, twice off), and once off revert back to the previous setting.
I just don't understand why there is ALWAYS a lighted segment of the panel on at all times and it doesn't completely "Turn Off" .... Strange ... maybe I'm just too "Old School" ... |
