Wow, it is amazing what such a small change can do for the look of that interior!

Good job on that.

Interesting... I don't know that there will be any "leaning over the center" console on "long cruises on the highway" with my "passenger"....

Personally I like my car's interior to be conductive to driving, not designed around getting road ****...

Thanks guys - I just remembered that I wanted to put paddle shifters on the wheel, I forgot though.

I hope that they put some kind of a compartment in between the driver and passenger, that is probably my biggest worry.

If I might chime in on the interior issue. I do see the sweep of the door panels sweeping into the dash. I can see a wrap around feel to the interior. I'm assuming that some see the concave curve of the dash as appearing flat. If you will look at the '69 dash, it had the same concave or slant back look. I was around in '69, and remarked that the Camaro dash was very similar to the '69 vette dash. If you remember the comments of the designers, and Mr. Lutz, they took the design cues from the original Camaro and did not build a modern retro, but asked how would this have evolved. I believe they will keep the interior intent, and incorporate the amenities we have come to expect and still keep it in the price range of the Mustang. I'd pay a little more for a better vehicle.

What do you guys think of incorporating a full color tft display into the instrument cluster ? For example in the middle of the tach and speedo where the current blue display is on the concept?

Like a little computer screen?
Except in the center of the two -ometers....That would look awesome.

Guys,

Have you seen the Pontiac Solstice Interior? It really does have a nice wrap around feel to it.. but then again, I think the sheer WIDTH of the new Camaro may prohibit this sort of styling (it is 5 inches wider than ANY previous Camaro from what i am told!).

I wonder weather too much interior space would be lost with the wrap around console in a car this big...?

Anyway, I would think they might carry similar styling over, but maybe not...

Concept's Gauges

Does anyone have details or read any articles about the functionality of the gauges? Which part is the "needle", how does it move, how readable is it, and are there any companies that make aftermarket gauges that are even remotely similar?

I've got a couple project vehicles that I can basically do anything I want with the interiors, and I really liked the look of these over the standard flat-faced variety, but haven't been able to find anything on the net.

Thanks.

The gauges actually don't work - at all. They light up: yeay!

Highlit in the yellow is the redline indicators, and highlit in the green is the needle. It sort of bends with the face of the gauge. The needle, as far as I can tell, is supposed to circle the gauge rather than pivot from the middle. I chose the convert's pic, because the coupe is just too busy...

Once the Camaro comes out, I would imagine you will have many options to choose from with gauges like these....from aftermarket companies to GM products.

the Interior is bound to change dramatically, But still stay loyal to the concept's. i for one thought the color schemes would hurt my eyes after a while, but I liked the rest of it.

And if I may comment on the "wrap-around" feel to the Camaro. Not so much...I don't think it can be wrap around, the closest I think it could come is to have the instruments (radio, heat, ect.) be slightly tilted in the drivers Direction. The only camaro's I can remember seeing with a wrap around feel was the 4th gens, and forgive me Tag, but the interiors in those didn't look so hot.

Dude...don't ask for forgiveness here! I feel the same way on the outdated interior! It's not bad, but yeah...I would have definitely done some stuff differently.

Forgive me for not reading the thread completely. Trying to catch up. I've been busy doing research on stereo systems for the SS.

Back on topic; Personally, I like to concepts interior just the way it is. IMO, it captures what the '69 styling was quite well.

I like the interior including the console gauges. I think the center display could be used to alert a driver of a critical condition, at which point, if you haven't been scanning the console gauges (which you should have been!), you can see what the situation is. My biggest complaint is the orientation of the numbers on the speedo and tach. I hate how the "1" is top down, then they flip the orientation for 2 thru 6 then flip back for 7. This takes the retro look too far. There is a reason no one does this anymore.

Hey guys sorta back from the dead. lol. I just thought I'd chime in. I don't like the color setup of the original concept but love the convert interior. I wouldn't really change anything from that. . .besides making everything functional.

Colors and options are not going to be model (vert or coupe) specific, I've never seen any car that did that...Call me on that if I'm wrong guys...I would assume that Those colors and a few others will be available on both the coupe and convert

Yea I agree. To give me a somewhat close idea of what it will be like, not only interior options but some other things, i look at the current mustang.
Back on the subject of the instrument cluster. I personaly like how it doesnt wrap around the driver. In cars like that i feel separated from the passanger. With this, it gives the car a more open and simple look to the interior. I like it a lot. The only minor complaint on it I have is the orange color but Im sure they will have that in a different color or optional.
