Smoking tailights , reverse lights and question

okay well i recently started to mess with my camaro. and im getting addicted to working on it! i already did 8k bi xenon hids for 135$ USD!! yay!! well it was 145 or so with all my leds lights! ( trunk light 1 led , license plate 2 leds , dome, map light 1 led.

so it was amazing deal! and well now that i look at it. ive start to decided if i should smoke my lights or not!

my camaro is black. and well im for sure going to black my bowties. but i was wondering. i heard that RS taillights are tinted a tiny bit? right or wrong?

also im not looking for SUPER blackout for the tail lights..more like a light smoke. but still with the red. so a darkish red for the taillights...

and light smoke for the reverse. what is the opinon for you guys?

It'll look great! How legal is it, though?

We offer a smoke (20%) and dark smoke (32%) tint for the tail lights. With the smoke material you will still see red thru the material, the dark smoke looks black. When the lights come on there is very little difference. In the photo below the tint is applyed to the driver (left) side of the car and no tint on the passenger (right) side.

Be very careful tinting or covering the RS tail light covers. THEY WILL CRACK. I'm not sure why, but they do. GTS covers over RS tails = CRACKS.

Get the black bowties! I love mine!

We have had them on a RS Camaro since September with no cracking or other problems. The material actually protects the lens from scratching and fading. The vinyl allows air thru more than a plastic cover would.

I blacked mine out all the way at first. I didn't like it cause it was too dark and the back needs color. I went with new RS lights. They are factory lightly tinted and it looks amazing. I would recommend painting the tail light bezels as well.
