BCM problems on a 2001 Camaro...

Can a dealer somehow scan the BCM to see if it is bad? I'm like 85% sure mine is bad. My courtesy lights wont come on, except for turning the thumbwheel up, then they wont turn off. And my door locks will lock on their own randomly. I ruled out the Headlight switch and thumbwheel. So I'm thinking my BCM is bad. Better yet, is there someway I can test the BCM without resetting it and rendering my key useless? I hate to undo any wires, cause I don't know if my key will work afterwards...
Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance

That would be awesome. But I noticed no one mentioned anything about the courtesy lights. Would that fix them too? And when or if I take out the BCM board, will I have to worry about static and being grounded or anything like with a computer? I'm kinda worried that my key wont work afterwards...just a little hesitant is all.

I don't know, I've never done it before, it seems to be a 98-02 thing.

Well I did some more research on this, and I still don't know about the courtesy lights. I asked a GM tech and he said it won't erase the memory to take it out, so the key should be fine. So I guess I'm gonna go out there and take it out. I'll post when I'm done and give my results.

Ok, well, I got my BCM out, and sure enough one of the joints pointed out in the walkthru was cracked. I soldered that one back together, double checked the rest of the connections, and everything looked ok. I just ran to town and back, and my radio didn't cut out at all, so I believe that's fixed. However, my door locks, and courtesy lights still don't work, and my windows haven't cut out yet, but they hardly ever did that in the first place. So I dunno. I believe it fixed the radio, but either way, it didn't solve all my problems. Anyone know what my problem could be?

You might want to check the connectors that attach to the BCM itself. I have these problems right now, and I believe its being caused by loose or faulty connectors. I havent got real in depth with it yet, but I will let you know what I find out.

UPDATE: Ok, re-soldering definitely fixed the radio flashing out. And so far my windows haven't cut out, so I believed that's fixed. But my door locks and courtesy lights are still messed up. I've come to the conclusion that my door only locks it self when I roll down my window, which leads me to believe my switch is bad. However the courtesy lights still have me stumped. I guess this weekend I'm just gonna have to go out there with a tester and start testing lights and tracing wires.

PROBLEM: Also, I forgot to mention, the illumination for my climate controls and SGS button are out. Could that have something to do with the BCM? The climate controls worked one time for about 5 minutes while I had the headlights on after I had re-soldered the BCM. Coincidence?

Either way, whenever I find something out, I'll post it up here, cause I know this same problem plagues thousands of us everyday.
